法住寺殿蹟碑の特徴
後白河法皇ゆかりの法住寺殿跡にある小さな石碑です。
美しい梅の花が真っ赤に咲く風景が魅力です。
早朝に訪れると静かに歩ける心地よい場所です。
「法住寺殿蹟碑」は、平安末期に後白河法皇が院政を行った「法住寺殿」の跡を示す石碑です。今は静かな住宅街の中にひっそりと建っていますが、かつては壮麗な御所や仏堂が立ち並ぶ広大な敷地で、政治の中心だった場所なんです。平清盛との関係や、源平合戦の舞台としても知られ、歴史好きにはたまらないスポット。現在は法住寺というお寺の一角に碑が残り、当時の栄華を静かに物語っています。

I came here in the morning at 07:30 and the gates were open.There were no people and it very quiet and peaceful there. I spent about 15minutes there just to enjoy the silence.It's free of charge

There are several plum trees at Hojuji Temple, which are in full bloom from mid-February to mid-March each year. The deep red plums in front of Ryugumon Gate are particularly famous.
