Tucked along the forested path below Kiyomizu-dera, these modest stone markers commemorate Ogata Kenzan, one of Japan’s most influential Edo-period ceramic artists. There’s no signage blitz, no crowd control, and definitely no souvenir shop...just moss, trees, and a sense that you’ve wandered into Kyoto’s long memory.Kenzan helped define Kyō-yaki pottery with designs that blended poetry, calligraphy, and art in a way that still feels modern. These stones mark that legacy quietly, without spectacle. Which feels right.If Kyoto’s big temples are the TED Talks, this spot is the footnote that explains why the talk mattered.Not a destination...a discovery. Worth slowing down for on the walk down from the main complex.

Beautiful little stone pillars
The climb up the steep path was quite the task to endure, but the view was well worth it. These stones looked very interesting to me once I saw them. I'm glad that I took this photo to remember

周辺のオススメ
기요미즈데라 아래 오토와노타키 쪽을 가기위에 지나치게 되는 작은 불상 조각들.아무런 설명이 영어나 한국어로 적혀있지 않기에 그저 지나치기 쉽다.불상과 바닥에 있는 이끼와 나무가 세월의 흔적을 짐작하게 만들 뿐이다.
