菩提樹の特徴
菩提樹は、お釈迦様が悟りを開いたことで有名な歴史ある聖地です。
仏教3聖木の一つで、シナノキ科の木々に囲まれた美しい環境が魅力です。
6月初旬から中旬にかけて、可憐で淡い黄色の花が咲く神秘的な場所です。
菩提樹 シナノキ科 シナノキ属菩提樹は、仏教3聖木の一つで、この木の下でお釈迦様は悟りを開かれたとされています。「菩提」は、「正しい悟りの智」を意味する「ボーディ」を音写したものです。インドの菩提樹はクワ科ですが、真如堂の菩提樹はもとより、日本の寺院に植えられている菩提樹はシナノキ科で、両者は異なる種類です。仏教が中国に伝わった時、インドの菩提樹は中国で育たなかったので、これに似た葉を持つ中国原産この木を「菩提樹」と呼ぶようにしたようです。日本には12世紀頃にもたらされました。6月半ば、葉腋から散房状の集散花をした向けに出し、淡黄色の香りのよい花を咲かせます。花期は短く、花をご覧になれた方は、きっとご縁があったのでしょう。花後すぐに、結実し、7～8ミリに成長して、秋には茶色く熟します。数珠で一般に「菩提樹」と表示されているのは、この木の実ではありません。シューベルトの名曲「リンデンバウム」を「菩提樹」と訳したのは、音楽家の堀内敬三氏ですが、リンデンバウムは日本の菩提樹と同じシナノキ科。銀座・並木通の街路樹が有名です。（現地説明版より）Lime tree, Lindenaceae, Linden genusThe Bodhi tree is one of the three sacred trees of Buddhism, and it is said that Buddha attained enlightenment under this tree. ``Bodhi'' is a phonetic transcription of ``Bodhi,'' which means ``the wisdom of correct enlightenment.''Bodhi trees in India belong to the Moraceae family, but the Bodhi trees planted in Shinnyodo temples and other temples in Japan belong to the Tiliaceae family, and they are different types.When Buddhism was introduced to China, the Indian Bodhi tree did not grow in China, so it seems that this tree, which is native to China and has similar leaves, was called the "Bodhi tree".
