Such a lovely stay to escape the crowds of Tokyo and Kyoto this time of year! Only an 11 minute walk to the Kambara train station. Would recommend to anyone- you won’t regret it!
just awesome calm place not so far from big cities, everything was just amazing, we were there as 2 pairs, just 15 mins from the ocean and the same time to the mountain hiking, one issue - the road is right outside and you could hear cars and bikes, sometimes its pretty loud.
Everything was just perfect! A wonderful experience of living in a traditional Japanese house, with all the modern design interior, a very pleasant stay
夫婦2人と4歳の子供の家族旅行で利用しました。東海道に面しており、江戸時代に行き交う商人や町人の姿を想像しながら滞在しました。朝はダイニングから日本風の小さな庭を眺めたり、小さな庭で日光浴をしたりと、昔ながらの家らしい体験ができました。昼食は近くのスーパーで食材を調達し、キッチンで調理。夜は近くの居酒屋でマグロを堪能しました。小さな庭の先に離れのお風呂があります。お風呂の大きな窓を開け放つと気持ちの良く、露天風呂のような体験ができます。
Amazing combination of old & traditional with modern renovation. We easily hosted a family meal with 20 ppl.
Located in a peaceful neighborhood of Kanbara. 10 minutes away from JR Kambara Station. Machihaku 456 is a recently renovated private house turn into private accomodation. Check-in is done by the tablet located at the entrance of the house. The house itself is very spacious. Could accommodate up to 4 people. Nicely decorated as well.The bathroom and toilet are separated just like any typical Japanese houses. The kitchen itself is fully equipped with cooking utensils, stove, microwave oven, fridge, induction cooktop and even a rice cooker. The bedroom is ryokan-style bedding where you sleeps on the tatami floors.Since the bedroom is located at the front of the house, do expect some road noise of cars passing by. Although no TV is provided, they have provided Bluetooth speaker, card games and a fast Wi-Fi.Parking is located next to the house. Near the fish shop.If we're in Shizuoka again, we'll definitely be staying at Machihaku 456 once again. Had an really nice time here with good atmosphere.High recommends!!
８月に家族で三保の松原と桜エビを食べに行った際一泊お世話になりました。古民家を今風にリフォームした建物に年頃の子供は大興奮。普通と違う宿で貴重な非日常体験をした感覚でした。目の前は東海道ですし。宿の従業員さんは常駐していませんが、自炊道具も揃っていてどんな使い方にもフィットしそうです。今回は晩御飯に蒲原の割烹料理屋さんの仕出しを配達して下さるプランで、子供達の偏食にも快く献立変更対応して頂きとてもありがたかったです。さすが海辺の割烹料理は仕出し形式でも格別でした。お風呂は敷地内の離れのような形になっており、お風呂の窓も木戸のようになっていて中庭に向かって露天風呂のようにもなりこれもまたオツなものでした。なかなか、あの値段でこんなところには泊まれないと思います。素晴らしい宿です。
一棟を貸し切っての宿泊でしたが、とても素敵なリノベーションで、落ち着いて過ごすことができました。ただスタッフがいないのでチェックインの仕方がよく分からず苦戦しました。またホテルではないので大きな看板がなく、通り過ぎてしまいそうになりました。

Stayed at this charming modernised traditional Japanese house in the suburb of Shiozoka. The house was very nicely done with all the modern amenities and yet kept the spirit of its original japanese traditions with tatami with a zen garden courtyard. There is also a separate bath and shower hut which was really charming. 15mins drive to central shiozoka. Would highly recommend.
