This is really nice place to know history of Yomitan area!!!Yomitan Airfield Return Monument【返还の碑広場】Yomitan Airfield Return MonumentDesign of Yomitan Airfield Return Monument SquarePosition of the return monument・ The monument for the return is on the axis of history and green space that connects the Zakimi Castle Ruins-Village Center District-Akainkogu / Observation Square.・ It is also the gateway to the village center area.・ From a feng shui point of view, the layout is as follows: Main Mountain (Zakimi Castle Ruins) -Meido (Village Center Area) -Anshan (Akainko / Observation Square). Since the ruins of Zakimi Castle and Akainkogu / Observation Square will be forests, the landmark of Meido will be green.Yomitan Auxiliary Airfield Return Monument Square Design Policy1. Positioning of the square・ It will serve as a gateway to attract people to the village center area, and will be a friendly and community-based plaza as a place for learning about the history of the return of Yomitan Auxiliary Airfield and peace.2. Design policy・ By taking advantage of the features of the paired intersection plaza, stone monuments will be placed symmetrically to secure the view of the intersection and produce a symbolic main gate.・ Make use of the hillside scenery of the Zakimi Castle Ruins that can be seen from the intersection, and create an open space where the greenery from planting blends in.-The return monument and the non-war declaration monument will be designed in the same system to create a sense of relevance and unity between the two stone monuments.3. Design・ A banyan tree that will be a temple tree will be placed in the center of both squares to form a symbolic gate space and the surrounding area will be a tree-planting zone that is continuous with the back square.-Design the pavement material so that it follows the circular arrangement of the stone monument, and distinguish between the arrangement space of the stone monument and the walking space.-The material of the structure shall be in harmony with the material used in the surrounding area and suitable for the landscape.・ Considering the scenery at night, we will make a fantastic appearance with phosphorescent stones and make it a new spot that will be a landmark for walking in the evening and running at night.The area is being developed based on the 2nd Yomitan Auxiliary Airfield Site Villager Center Area Site Utilization Basic Plan formulated in March 2013. The area around this project site is positioned in the Peace Forest Zone, which is mainly composed of a plaza and a green zone.Relocation of the monument to the declaration of non-war・ The monument for the declaration of non-war was installed at the Peace Forest Stadium so that it can be relocated when a suitable place is obtained in the future.・ The monument to the declaration of non-war is also the village motto of Yomitan Village, and the entrance to the Villagers Center is suitable.
