★★★★★This was such a wonderful place! We were looking for a place where our family could experience Japanese culture, and by chance we found AriHana Kyoto. Reservations were not required, but since we were told that reservations were possible, we decided to book on the same day, which made us feel more relaxed and comfortable. When we arrived, the host Amy greeted us with a warm smile, which immediately made us feel welcome and happy. We visited with our two children, aged 5 and 11. They were fascinated by the Japanese traditional toys, which were completely new to them. Amy carefully explained how to play with each toy, so the children were able to enjoy themselves without any confusion. Not only the kids, but we adults also became completely absorbed in the traditional Japanese games—it was unexpected, but truly fun.We also purchased some Japanese toys as souvenirs. In addition, we had the chance to take photos while wearing matching kimono as a family, which became one of our most cherished memories.AriHana Kyoto is not just a place to play; it is a place to truly learn about Japanese culture. Being able to step away from the digital world and immerse ourselves in an analog experience was very refreshing. Activities like origami, which require using your hands and fingers, helped the children focus, and they felt a great sense of satisfaction when their creations were finished.Although it is located in a popular sightseeing area of Kyoto, the space felt private, quiet, and elegant, making it very calming and comfortable. As others have mentioned in their reviews, this place offers much more than simply playing with Japanese toys. While everyone values experiences differently, we felt that AriHana Kyoto is absolutely worth the price for anyone visiting Kyoto who wants a special and authentic Japanese cultural experience. There is truly no other place where you can casually and easily experience Japanese culture while allowing children to fully enjoy themselves. We 100% highly recommend AriHana Kyoto!Amy, thank you so much for welcoming us. This became one of the best memories of our time in Japan!**
とっても温かく迎え入れてくださって、心地よく楽しい時間を過ごすことができました!
We had such a wonderful experience with Miss Amy in Kyoto. I brought my two daughters (ages 3 and 5), and both were completely captivated from the moment we arrived. Miss Amy has a rare gift for working with children—she thoughtfully guides them from one toy and activity to the next, helping them not just play, but truly understand and engage with each game. It feels carefully curated rather than chaotic, which made the experience both calming and deeply enjoyable for the kids. Her space is beautiful—spotlessly clean and set inside a 90-year-old traditional Japanese apartment that adds so much character and authenticity to the visit. The collection of Japanese toys is fascinating, and watching our daughters explore them with Miss Amy’s gentle guidance was a highlight of our time in Kyoto. The extra touch of letting the girls wear kimonos while they played made the experience even more special—they absolutely loved it and still talk about it days later.Miss Amy is incredibly warm, sweet, and energetic, and it’s obvious how much heart she puts into creating meaningful experiences for children. She made sure our daughters felt comfortable, included, and joyful the entire visit. This was a truly memorable experience for our family and something I would enthusiastically recommend to any parents traveling with young children in Kyoto.
We had an amazing experience at AriHana during our stay in Kyoto. Amy, the owner, was incredibly nice and attentive. She immediately involved our daughter in play and introduced all of us to a variety of traditional Japanese toys. It felt very personal and welcoming. As a family traveling with a toddler, we found that Kyoto doesn’t have as many engaging, fun play spaces or playgrounds specifically for little kids, so AriHana was truly a gem. Our daughter was able to enjoy real free play in a safe and cozy environment, and we got to participate and learn alongside her. She absolutely loved it!There is an admission fee and for unique activities (e.g. writing calligraphy on a fan) there is an additional fee.If you're visiting Kyoto with a young child, this is a must-visit spot. We’re so grateful for the wonderful experience!
授乳スペースを探して、こちらに行き着きました。突然の訪問にも関わらず、あたたかく接して頂き、嬉しかったです。子どももとても楽しく遊んでました!!
🌸 Unforgettable Kyoto Moments with Rihanna & Amy! 🌸If you’re ever in Kyoto and looking for a truly heartwarming, culturally rich experience, this is it. Watching Rihanna dive into the world of Japanese toys, traditional games, origami, and calligraphy was pure joy. Her energy lit up the room as she folded intricate paper cranes, mastered the brush strokes of kanji, and giggled over vintage Japanese board games — it was a beautiful blend of playfulness and appreciation. But what truly elevated the experience was Amy. From the moment she welcomed us, her warmth and insight were palpable. A former kindergarten teacher, Amy has that rare gift of connecting instantly — not just with kids, but with anyone who still carries a sense of wonder. You can tell she genuinely loves what she does. Her explanations were thoughtful, her laughter contagious, and her ability to make everyone feel seen and included was remarkable.Amy didn’t just guide us through activities — she brought them to life. Whether sharing the history behind a toy or encouraging us to try a tricky origami fold, she made every moment feel personal and meaningful. Rihanna clearly had a blast, and so did we.This wasn’t just a cultural workshop — it was a celebration of joy, creativity, and connection. Highly recommend for families, fans, and anyone who wants to experience Kyoto through a lens of fun and heart. 💖
What a great place! On a rainy day with our two girls we found this hidden gem. Emy is super nice and guided us through the various japanese games. We had a lot of fun!!! We stayed only 30min but we could have spent more time there. The place is quite small so it is very cosy and charming. Will stay as my girls best time kyoto for sure. Thank you Emy!It is 5.500yen for 30min for a group up to 4ppl. Or 5.500yen per person with unlimited time
Wonderful family experience! We took the complete package for 2 hours - guided activity with Amy. She was very friendly, fun and encourages the all family members to enjoy the session. From coming into the place, we were surrounded by local Japanese culture experience. The place looks like Japanese house, full with tatami matts, various activities from origami, interactive games, drawing fan until dressing up in Japanese Yukata and Kimono for photo session.Self served drink area, clean toilet, baby corner… all what your family might need during the session there is provided.
I visited AriHana Kyoto after seeing it mentioned in the news. It’s very close to Kiyomizu-dera area, but the entrance is just a few seconds down a small alley from the main street. The staff member was very friendly and easy to talk to. The place has many nostalgic traditional Japanese toys, and I had so much fun playing with them again.I enjoyed kendama, daruma otoshi, and bozu mekuri, and even as an adult I became completely absorbed in playing. Before I knew it, three hours had passed!I also tried making a beautiful Japanese kaleidoscope, which was a wonderful hands-on cultural experience.I work as a childcare professional, and I felt that many of the traditional games here are something children today should experience. The space is clean and feels like a traditional Japanese house, with a warm and relaxing atmosphere—almost like visiting your grandmother’s home. You can relax, enjoy drinks, and spend time freely at your own pace. You can even wear kimono while playing, which makes the experience even more special.I highly recommend AriHana Kyoto for families, children, adults, and international visitors looking for a unique cultural experience in Kyoto.

『My husband and I visited AriHana Kyoto, and we had such a wonderful time!Wearing kimono was so much fun — it totally satisfied our little “transformation wish.” We also played with traditional toys like kendama and daruma otoshi for the first time in decades, and we couldn’t stop laughing!Painting the toy was really enjoyable too, and I loved that we could take it home as a keepsake. We didn’t have enough time to try fukuwarai or origami, which was a bit of a shame, but there were so many fun things to do that time just flew by.The owner used to be a nursery teacher and is super friendly and great with kids. It’s such a cozy, welcoming place for both adults and families with children.Highly recommended if you want to experience Japanese culture in a fun and relaxing way! 🌸』
