I took a walk around Kyoto city and would like to share my experience.A friend came to Kyoto and wanted to see cherry blossoms as well as visit popular sightseeing spots, so we decided to explore the city on foot while searching for early-blooming sakura. Our first destination was Fushimi Inari Taisha, which my friend especially wanted to visit. We left Kyoto Station at 9:30 AM and walked south along Takeda Kaido Street from the Avanti side bus stop area. From Jujo, we headed west and continued on foot.It took about 50 minutes to reach Fushimi Inari. Since it was the first day of a three-day weekend, it was very crowded. After walking through the famous Senbon Torii gates, we moved on to our next stop.Next, we visited Tofuku-ji Temple, well known for its autumn foliage. Because it was not the peak season, it was relatively quiet and easy to explore. We then headed to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, which was even more crowded than Fushimi Inari. If you plan to visit, it’s best to consider the timing to avoid heavy crowds. We walked along Kiyomizu-zaka, Sannenzaka, and Ninenzaka streets toward Yasaka Shrine, enjoying the many souvenir shops along the way.At Yasaka Shrine, we realized we hadn’t really seen cherry blossoms yet, so we went to Maruyama Park. A few early blooms were visible, but it was still too early for the full cherry blossom season, and the famous weeping cherry tree had not bloomed yet. From there, we passed the large gate of Chion-in Temple and continued to Heian Shrine. A live performance was being prepared, and a flea market was also being held nearby, which made for a fun and unexpected experience.Since our return bus was at 7:30 PM, we started heading back toward Kyoto Station, walking through Sanjo Street, Teramachi, Shinkyogoku, and Nishiki Market. These areas have changed quite a bit and felt more international, with many shops selling wagyu beef and tuna. Finally, we headed to see cherry blossoms. Since it was still early in the season, we visited a spot near the intersection of Muromachi Street and Takatsuji Street, close to the Kyoto Cultural Association. As expected, the cherry blossoms there were beautifully in bloom. If you visit Kyoto before peak season, I recommend this spot as well as Chotoku-ji Temple in Demachiyanagi for early cherry blossoms. We finished our walk at Kyoto Avanti at 5:00 PM.It was about a 7.5-hour walk around Kyoto
