This tea ceremony was the highlight of our trip.The host is a truly wonderful and kind person who creates a peaceful, healing atmosphere from the moment you walk in. Her hospitality was amazing, and she made our day feel incredibly special.We will truly remember the significance of the tea ceremony and this beautiful connection for the rest of our lives.We highly recommend this experience to those who truly enjoy Japanese culture and are willing to get more deeply involved in their traditions. Okada san’s tea ceremony was the highlight of my trip to Kyoto. I learned so much, not just on the meaning of drinking tea but also valuable life concepts. Okada san was the perfect host who went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable. Highly recommended!
We absolutely LOVED our experience at Okada’s Tea Ceremony. He’s such a wonderful soul and delightful teacher. We enjoyed every minute with him learning more about the Japanese culture and the art of the tea ceremony. Such a beautiful peaceful ritual. The time we were there felt like a meditation session, cultural experience, and delicious tea savoring all into one! It was truly a very special event and one we hope to come back to next time we are in Kyoto! I highly recommend the tea ceremony here - and to rent out the kimono from his store next door for the full experience! I am definitely coming back! Hopefully soon :-) Domo arigato gozaimasu!!!
My husband and I love to travel and immerse ourselves in different cultures. Okada’s Tea Ceremony was a perfect way to spend our day in Kyoto and learn more about Japan specifically about how tea is being made and served in the Japanese culture.After dressing up in our kimonos ,Okada taught us how the Tea Ceremony is more than just making and drinking it .It is about peace, love and tranquility . And truly feel and taste the tea ( Matcha) as you take sips , enjoying it with a Japanese sweet cake.He performed the ceremony with ease and finesse.He even wants you to try and do it so you can truly feel the experience.My husband and I visiting from the United States and Christine from New Zealand truly learned a lot .We also walked around the streets in Kyoto after the ceremony .We thank and appreciate Okada for letting us experience Tea Ceremony . If you want to learn more about Japanese culture , this is highly recommended.

From the moment we arrived, his attention to detail was evident in every gesture and element of the setting.What stood out most was his patience and kindness. He took the time to explain not only the steps of the ceremony, but also the deeper meaning behind each movement, utensil, and phrase. His teaching style was warm and approachable, making us feel comfortable as we learned about Japanese customs and culture in such an intimate setting.Rather than feeling like observers, we felt like participants in a living tradition. Mr. Okada’s ability to balance precision with genuine hospitality created an atmosphere that was both educational and deeply moving.If you are looking for an authentic and meaningful cultural experience in Kyoto, I cannot recommend Okada’s tea ceremony highly enough. It is a memory we will carry with us for years to come.
My partner and I went here for the combination Kimono rental and Tea Ceremony experience, which we booked via Klook. We had a wonderful time and learned quite a lot about kimono, tea, and Japanese culture. The tea was excellent quality. We even got to practice performing the tea ceremony ourselves!The owner is generous and kind. He also offered us to try some local sake you cannot buy anywhere, and recommendations for other activities and restaurants in Kyoto. He was able to get us a reservation for the same day at his friend's restaurant, which was also an amazing experience!I highly recommend visiting!
My partner and I were just strolling past when we happened to come across Okada. We came to Japan from Australia for our honeymoon and thought this would’ve been the perfect way to experience authentic Japanese culture - and sure enough it was! Everything from the kimono rental to the tea ceremony was so authentic and accommodating. The whole team, particularly the owner, made us feel so comfortable despite being outside of our comfort zone!I cannot express our gratitude enough for the memorable experience they created for us. We’ll forever cherish Kyoto and look forward to coming back in future!! Perhaps to try calligraphy next time! Thank you again!!
My partner and I have lived an unforgettable experience with Okada. The kimono shop provides a wide range of very qualitative items and you can quickly see that it makes a huge difference compared to some other shops in the Higashiyama district. The manager as well as the rest of the personnel are very friendly and passionate. On top of the kimono rental and the photo shooting session with a photographer, we also had the opportunity to learn more about the several steps of a traditional Japanese tea ceremony and we even tried to prepare the matcha tea ourselves. Thanks again to all the team members for having contributed to make our day so special. We recommend Okada to everyone visiting Kyoto and eager to live part of its traditions.

This tea ceremony was hands down the highlight of our trip to Japan. Okada went above and beyond explaining the culture, history, and meaning behind everything, and made sure we felt comfortable the whole time. You can tell how much pride he takes in sharing his culture, and it made the experience feel really special and personal. We’ll remember this forever.
