Great whisky store with a tasting bar. Wide selection of Japanese and world whiskies. Some tasting sets available for easy access, and lots of individual bottles to choose from. The very knowledgeable and nice barkeeper spoke good English and had excellent recommendations based on my interests. My go-to place for whisky on Kyoto. They also have a store in Osaka.

Genuinely my favorite whisky shop/bar in Kyoto.If you love Japanese whiskies (or whiskies in general), just look at the stuff they have on shelves available for order!
One of the best selection of current and rare Japanese whiskies in Japan. They also have different types of scotch to try too. Pricing is very reasonable for the rarity. Owl liquor also has bottles for sale. Staff is very knowledgeable about all types of whisky. I tried rare Yamazaki casks and nikka casks. Make it Owl Liquor a stop when you're in Kyoto.
If you like Japanese whisky, this shop is the place to go. I love that there was a bar in the back where you could do some flights and tastings. The employee there was very knowledgeable and spoke English very well - good for foreigners. I ended up buying 2 bottles to bring back at good prices. Will definitely be back.
Amazing Whiskey Tasting Experience!Owl Liquor in Kyoto is a must-visit for Japanese whiskey lovers. I’m new to whiskey, but the owner and staff were super friendly and explained everything so well. I ended up buying two bottles you’d never find in the States — and they taste incredible. Highly recommend if you’re looking for something unique and memorable in Kyoto!
