Great bar to relax with nice cozy environment and music. Mr Hori was very kind and made us some great cocktails and drinks. Will visit again for sure.

Quaint. Frozen in time, the order, the color, the arrangement and everything inside is as it were in 1968 from what Hori (owner and chief bartender) shared with me. I chanced upon this glorious bar, accidentally on my penultimate day in Kyoto. Hori was very hospitable and made every effort to speak to me, partly in English (that is good at) and partly by reliance on translator apps. We were engaged in conversation for about 2 hours, until the very last minute of closing time. He shared the history of the bar, his story, and the context in which this beautiful vinyl and liquor bar was kept alive in an impassioned way. I went back again the next day simply to relive how beautiful the interaction was.As for the selection, Hori maintains an enviable and admirable global collection of Whsikeys and Gins. Scotches from faraway lands to locally prized whiskeys are all available. He meticulously carves cuboids of ice for each order and serves it in an aesthetically pleasing manner. He makes cocktails too, in an exceptionally authentic way. Accentuating and complementing the mood, the dimly lit mahogany wood speakeasy aesthetic, is the constant mellifluous vinyl selection that he curates for the day. He hangs the vinyl cover to the side for anyone curious to identify the album.For a magical and memorable experience in Kyoto, this place is an absolute must visit. Kyoto and the Japan experience would have been incomplete for me without Violon and Hori. Anyone curious, must walk up to this hidden gem of a place.Hori san, thank you for the lovely conversations and memories.
雰囲気あります！地元の方、常連の方がほとんどの客層で、違う意味で京都らしいです。閉店時間は一応、決まってるようですが、その日の様子により延長営業もしてるみたいでした。
このジュークボックスが真ん中に鎮座していた学生時代から、地元を出て四半世紀が過ぎてもなお、ずっと欠かせへん場所。後をつないでくれる人たちのおかげです！
知る人ぞ知る 50年の時を超えてきたバー。それでいてアカデミック。
路地の奥の古いビル、急な階段を上った3階、京都で50年以上親しまれてきたバーです。お店に入ると石油ストーブの少し焦げたような匂いに懐かしさを覚えました。店内には当たり前のようにレコードから曲が流れ、時間が止まったような空間です。トイレに立った時にも、塗り直されたペンキの臭いにどこか遠い昔の記憶が蘇るようでした。カウンター席の他、ゆったりとしたテーブル席が1階と、ロフトのような中2階にあります。カクテルのメニューも多く、好みに合わせて作ってもらえました。昭和、平成から令和の時代にも受け継がれていってほしい歴史ある素敵な隠れ家バーです。

Amazing little hidden gem in Kyoto! Really good atmosphere and great drinks with amazing service! We went here both nights in Kyoto and would go more if I could
