Just returned home from a wonderfully organised and guided small group explore of northern parts of beautiful Kyushu. Every request that we made for our special interests was met. Our charming guide Soyo spoke excellent english which made conversations with Artisans, Potters, Weavers, plus interactions with accomodation, shop or restaurant staff etc very easy.Accomodation was very comfortable, varied and all meals were beautifully presented - chosen menus packed with variety, local ingredients, authentic flavours and styles of cooking. Sublime and fun dining locations would have been unfindable without very local knowledge. Accessing remotely located Artisans was a great team effort between our very obliging Driver Kuwahara San and Soyo. Steep minor rural roads, tight narrow mountain paths, the seaside and many tiny towns - a varied lush rural landscape and beautiful towns. We really came away with a good sense of how the Kyushans live today and how they lived and thrived for centuries before this.
My family and I have used Kyushu Journeys twice in 2025 to plan for our family trips in Kyushu. They are so professional and able to customize our trips based on our family's needs/interests. Soyo-san has been so responsible and responsive in taking all our questions before and during the trip. Highly recommended for anyone who wants an in-depth / amazing travelling experience in Kyushu!
1980年代に仕事で日本を知り、楽しんできた私たちにとって、これが初めての日本旅行でした。都会や大衆観光地ではなく、田舎や伝統文化に焦点を当て、あまり知られていない場所を探索したいと思い、11月の穏やかな気候を満喫したいと考えました。そして、九州へと辿り着きました。インターネットでの検索と、問い合わせに対する丁寧で親切な回答から、九州ジャーニーズを選びました。普段は自分で旅行の手配をし、混雑した観光スポットを避けるため、少人数のグループを希望していました。九州ツアーズの秋ツアーは完璧でした。ガイドさんは魅力的で、知識が豊富で、親切で、効率的でした。彼女は、非常に充実したプログラムの中で、多様なグループをまとめ上げ、プレッシャーや焦りを感じさせませんでした。もしかしたら、私たちは少し日本人になったのかもしれません。お互いを理解し、尊重し合い、助け合ってそれぞれの体験を楽しんでいなければ、このツアーはうまくいかなかったでしょう。ドライバーも、完璧な運転と親切さに加え、このグループの雰囲気作りに欠かせない存在でした。日本食を体験することが最大の目的でした。料理の質と種類は素晴らしかったです。私たちだけで旅行していたら、朝食は控え、昼食も限られた場所しか取らず、夕食もこれほど冒険的なものにはならなかったでしょう。ホテルやレストランの選択肢は、伝統とモダンが融合した空間で、グループでの食事と交流を楽しむのに理想的でした。提供される料理の数を数え切れないほど多く、その味と繊細さに何度も驚かされました。伝統的な旅館での滞在や温泉も加えると、素晴らしい体験となりました。秋の九州を散策し、木々や庭園の紅葉を楽しみ、食事の合間に様々な観光スポットを訪れることができて満足でした。柿狩りなどのちょっとしたアクティビティも、城や火山への旅と同じくらい重要でした。九州を温かい雰囲気にしてくれる人々に出会えたからです。チーム全員に感謝いたします。
We went on the Autumn Tour of Kyushu with Kyushu Journeys in November 2025, and it was an unforgettable experience. The itinerary was very well crafted, balancing cultural immersion, scenic beauty, and culinary delights.Every day we enjoyed sightseeing with food tasting at local places.The accommodation choices were well thought through, offering a mix of modern comfort and traditional charm. Staying in ryokan inns with tatami rooms and onsen baths was a highlight.The tour was well balanced, with reasonable walking at visited sites and some time spent on the bus to comfortably reach each destination.Our Tour guide, Soyo-san, very knowledgeable, dedicated and patient shepherded our small team with humor and enthusiasm.The Driver, Ego-san, such a professional, who rode the bus with care and efficiency.Kyushu Journeys delivered an exceptionally organized tour that blended culture, nature, and gastronomy. The pacing was perfect—enough time to enjoy each location without feeling rushed.If you’re looking for an authentic and personalized Kyushu experience, I highly recommend Kyushu Journeys.

Kyushu Journeys is the go to expert for traveling in the Kyushu region. We did the self guided tour with their help in planning the itinerary that meets our interests and every recommendation has been spot on. They handled all the reservations so we don’t have to worry about the logistics. They are also available on instant messenger during our trip in case of emergency, which provided tremendous help and guidance when we run into issues with our car rental. When we go back to Kyushu, we would 100% use their services again!

My 3 friends and I had a brilliant tour with Kyushu Journeys. Their pre-planning was excellent, as was having Soyo as our guide. Communication at every point was excellent.Kyushu Journeys responding to my wishlist of things we might do and see, and then developed an itinerary that was pretty perfect. They certainly gave us many hidden gems and I felt as though I'd seen parts of Kyushu and its people that I would never have been able to experience by ourselves.I thoroughly enjoyed visiting artisans such as Kento Murayama at his kiln and studio. Other highlights were learning about the processes of sake brewing, soya sauce brewing, salt extraction and indigo dying and weaving. Of course, there were several others as well. I think any experience at the level of where a product or art form/craft is actually produced and talking to the artisan/producer is special. And I'm very thankful Kyushu Journeys went out of the way to provide those opportunities for us.Finally, the meals we had were excellent and in places we would never have gotten to by ourselves, such as the BBQ seafood by the water, and my others. Our food experiences were another highlight. Thank you for the effort you put into sourcing them.
