The installation occupies two different rooms, a Japanese-style tatami mat room and a tea ceremony room, in the former Sakai Residence, which was built in the early 20th century. Patterns consisting of countless foam-like forms drawn with salt evoke waves lapping the shore, fishing nets, and tidal currents, as well as the ordinary moments when our daily lives intersect with memories. Each bubble-like cell is imbued with memories of time spent with loved ones or memories of daily life. When they merge together, they create a scene in which time flows and memories resonate with one another. The work reflects the history of the salt-manufacturing industry in the port town of Utazu and its cultural background.
