While passing through Kyushu Island, my husband and I had a very pleasant and informative experience with the Ikedoki Tea team! We thoroughly enjoyed everything, from the tea tasting to the visit to the tea fields. We highly recommend this activity, both for what you will learn and for the kindness of Marjolein and Mika, our guides for the day. We also greatly appreciated being able to purchase the teas we tasted directly from them. Don’t hesitate to go!
The team is so passionate and involved in spreading the word about the tea of the Nagasaki region. It was an amazing experience and we learned a lot. Highly recommended for anyone who is interested in tea, wants to contribute to the region and loves to bring special tea back home.
What a wonderful experience with the Ikedoki Tea team! We absolutely loved every moment of our tea experience. So friendly, welcoming and informative. We learnt so much about the teas of Nagasaki. どうもありがとうございます!
A very informative and enjoyable experience. You get a hands on overview of 9 different locally produced teas, from growing, harvesting, processing and tasting. I also found the historic development of teas grown in this area fascinating. Marjolein has a wealth of knowledge which she shares easily. Overall a fantastic day! Ngā mihi nui!
An interesting and meaningful tour offered by Nagasaki Ikedoki with an aim to promote the tea culture and boost the tourism of the much less known city in Nagasaki province. The 2-hour (became 3-hour) tour is definitely worth for $. Not only can we learn more about history, production process and different categories of green tea, but most importantly how the town community tries to "save" this town from being forgotten or abandoned. We are impressed with the organizer, Marjolein, and her assistant Spencer, who are very passionate about the green tea culture and come all the way from the other continents to Japan. Holiday is not just about taking photos and eating good food. We should spend time to understand more about the culture of different counties/ cities.
Thank you Marjolein and Spencer for this great tea tour ☺️!But not only that, for months now I have been in contact with Marjolein since I started planning my trip to japan, and she’s been so so helpful! She also recommended me an amazing guesthouse in the area!I had the chance to have my own private tour on that day so Marjolein could even pick me up!I learned so much about tea, its history, types and ways to process as well as the how it is produced in the region. I could taste also so many different delicious teas, visited a tea field on the hills of Higashi sonogi and a tea factory. We then had a nice lunch at a local cafeteria and then back to more tea tasting and learning were I could brew myself and wisk my own matcha! It was a really nice moment and it is lovely to see two people so passionate about tea, the region and helping local farmers :).Afterwards i could fill up my gift suitcase with tea from local producers and be on my way 🎁!I had a great day with two very nice people and learned and tasted a lot! I can definitely recommend 😁

Amazing tea tour. We got to learn about the history of tea, different types of tea as well as the different ways of processing tea to make the different variations. We got to ask lots of questions and it was wonderful to see an organization promoting and helping local farmers. I highly recommend you take the train from Nagasaki to participate in this guided educational tea tour👍😊❤️ well worth the 1 hour train trip.
