Even as a local who live in the next prefecture and can go and back within a day, love to stay there as much as possible. The owner couple is so friendly, kind, having plenty of knowledge and information about all around there so that they would give great appropriate tips of what to do, where to go, how to spend time there. The house is not only well equipped but also has a very nice atmosphere with beautiful seasonal flowers arranged on the japanese old-fashioned drawer, nice furnitures, wall arts, lots of great books, and the peaceful countryside view from the windows in which their lovely chickens are enjoying the life in their allotment.As an active person, I have enjoyed running around, cycling around(they provide bikes!), and hiking in the surrounding mountains. There are so many good routes and paths that I can't wait for the next time to explore more!Here's a cozy life in Japan. Why not have it!
This place is absolutely amazing. It is the perfect place to get away and enjoy the real beauty of rural Japan (on a bike).The property is very beautiful and well kept, the surrounding area is peaceful and close enough to a train station if needed.Very very very highly recommend for nature lovers and cyclists (or both!)
Lovely little village conveniently located near to Nara and Kyoto. Nice modern decor to the flat. Lots of extras which was very pleasant. We were able to borrow bikes to ride around and gotlots of advice on where to go and what to do. Wheeler’s Den were very friendly and helpful.
Great hosts with an excellent knowledge of Kyoto & Nara! Wonderful little place to stay right between two of the top 'must visit' places in Japan!
No finer hosts can be found than here. Beautiful house in a lovely and historic town. You’ll be very happy you stayed here.

We stayed at the Wheeler's Den with our two small children for about a week during the summer.The guest house is located in the countryside but has good train connections to Nara, Kyoto, and Osaka, making it the perfect starting point for day trips in the region. However, the immediate surroundings proved so interesting that we skipped parts of our original itinerary and spent several days strolling through rice paddies, visiting the local coffee roaster, exploring temples and restaurants, and checking out the Ninja house.The guest house itself was clean, cozy, and very tastefully decorated. We were greeted with a pretty flower arrangement placed in the dining area, which made us feel welcome right away!The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed (there’s also a big supermarket close by), and the hosts even helped us out with high chairs for the kids. The hosts were the nicest people and it was a pleasure to chat with them, and also had lots of great recommendations for activities and restaurants in the area.We hope to be back and get a change to explore the area a bit more!
