The room was big, basically a one-bedroom Japanese house — bigger than we need. It was clean and quiet. However, for the price, the food could be much better. It’s really not enough after a long hike. Dinner was basically a light vegetarian bento. We still felt hungry after dinner. Breakfast was one toast with two spoons of scrambled egg and three bites of cabbage salad. Lunch was three rice balls with a small pork ball and one fried skinny hot dog cut into three. We also had to make our own bed, which was fine if the place wasn’t the most expensive accommodation we paid in our Kumano hike. Other places we stayed at Kumano gave us much cheaper price for better facilities and service.

Beautiful, spacious bungalow overlooking the river and a friendly welcome, but the food really lets it down. Small and unexciting, which is not what you need if you're doing long hikes and in complete contrast to everywhere else we stayed on our Kumano Kodo trip.
Clean and nice room. It is big which can 4-5 people. You can see the river from them room. WiFi is fast and stable too.
It’s sparkly clean and huge with two toilets! Though flowers are gone but you can tell it was super pretty when they bloomed. There is also a washer.However the food, dinner, breakfast, and the bento box are all very disappointing. Dinner is cold when I got the box. Half piece of salmon, one piece shrimp tempura, and one piece of croquette are just not enough. I went to the beer garden after dinner. They don’t serve actual food, but cheese plate is better than nothing.Breakfast is nicely setup in a nearby coffee shop by a friendly old lady, but you only got one piece of toast cut in half.The bento box is basically three plan rice balls.
Not terrible, but not great. View was pretty nice, the house was very clean.It was pretty expensive for us ($380 for 4 people) Dinner arrived earlier than the agreed time, so when we got back it was cold. Breakfast and the lunch box were pretty disappointing. Pretty much the only food we’ve had in Japan that we didn’t like. For 400 I would expect more. But it was the cheapest option we could find.I’d also like to mention that we booked it through the kumodo kodo website so maybe that’s why it was more expensive.
한국엔 아직 구마노고도에 대한 경험과 정보가 많지 않은 편인데, 구마노고도를 걷게 된다면 반드시 이 숙소에 묵어보길 강추! 고즈넉한 일본 시골의 풍경 속에서 하루를 편히 쉴 수 있다!
We loved it here! We were welcomed by a sweet lady and later her husband brought us a delicious and home made food. The garden and the house were very comfortable and cozy, with relaxing windows on the beautiful trees. We slept and recovered from one of the longest trails in Kumano kodo. We wish we stayed one more day to enjoy the space and get to know the lovely hosts more!Will definitely come back!
（2022年5月情報）コロナ禍で外国人客いないこともあって、大きな一軒家に一人で滞在。庭も広く、別荘状態です。建物も新しく清潔で気持ちよく過ごせます。部屋内は外国人の方にとって日本を感じられる装飾が施されています。この辺りは、ちょうど中辺路の熊野古道の中間地にあって、宿泊施設が多いのですが、本当に静かな地域でのんびり休日を楽しめると思います。夕食はお弁当を近所のレストランの方が持ってきてくれます。種類豊富で美味しくいただけました。翌朝の朝食は、その近所のレストランでいただきます。歩いて数分です。

周辺のオススメ
Happiness Chikatsuyu truly brought us happiness after the hilly hike from Takijiri-oji. The attention to detail, decore, and amenities were fantastic after a day of hiking! The host (we forgot to get his name) was so helpful when we wanted to organize a last minute bag shuttle service for the following day. The Yakata and meals made this stay one of our favourite in Japan. Well worth every penny!
