We spent a great day with Sean who took us to all the best places making sure we avoided the coach loads and saw some of the more hidden spots. Sean was very knowledgeable about the area and was a super friendly person. The Vine Bridges were a bit scary to cross but we made it, the boat trip was lovely and the views were second to none. It was great to get a locals insight. So pleased we visited Iya Valley. Thoroughly recommend taking this tour.
We had a fantastic day with Aki in the Iya Valley, visiting areas that we never would have been able to navigate on our own and meeting lots of local people. It was fascinating to see so much of the Iya Valley, and to discover more about village life in Japan.Of three wonderful weeks in Japan, our day with Aki and our driver in the Iya Valley was the highlight of our holiday - we would recommend anyone visiting Shikoku should take this tour. It was an easy day trip from Takamatsu, that crammed a lot in but at a pace that never felt rushed.
Unmissable. We did two days with Aki and got so much more than we had expected. Aki was enthusiastic, friendly and attentive throughout We learnt so much not just about the Iya Valley but also about life in Japan more broadly. All of our many questions were patiently answered. We saw and did far more than we could possibly have achieved on our own. The day trip up Mount Tsurugi was perfect for seeing Japan’s autumn colours at their best.We also appreciated the support we had from Sean in planning our visit to Oboke. Invaluable to us.This was a highlight of our time in Japan
Did the full day Iya tour and it was amazing!! Our guide Sean was so knowledgeable and friendly, and I loved learning so much about the nature, history, culture, and local life here in the valley. I would 100% recommend going through Iya Tours if you ever plan on visiting this area! I don’t think I would have appreciated the beauty and rich history of this place as much without Sean to tell us about it.Even before the trip, it was so easy to arrange the tour, and when I threw in a last minute request to be brought to the Oboke Boat Cruise and Koboke Gorge (not usually included in the full day tour because they’re on the other side of the valley), they could accommodate it. They also gave suggestions for train times to come in to Oboke, and arranged it all so we got back to our hotel in time to catch the gorgeous sunset view.

Thanks to Iya Valley Tours we were able to enjoy our trip to Iya to the fullest! Even if we arrived by car, we didn't feel confident about driving ourselves on the narrow mountain roads. Our driver was skilful and professional, we instantly knew we were in good hands. The vans were large and comfortable, and both of us could enjoy the views!Aki and Sean, our guides, were so knowledgeable, informative and kind, and took some of the best couple pics of our trip ;) Because they live in Iya and are part of the community, they're not just another tour company. In retrospect we are very happy we chose to do this, even if we do not usually do "tours". It was the highlight of our Japan trip and in no little measure thanks to Iya Valley Tours. I hope we can go back one day and do some hiking with them next time.
