stumbled upon this randomly, very friendly old couple selling matcha powder at good prices! they let u try the matcha u bought too!only accept cash or QR code, they accept tax free as well. come support them but don’t bring a tour here as its only them running the store.their english is not too good but had a nice chat with them in broken japanese, not a matcha drinker personally but will come here again just for their hospitality. 10/10
This store is absolutely amazing. It's a tea cooperative, with a lot of old people working. They don't speak much English but try to communicate as they can. They allow you try the matcha before you buy, which stores rarely do. Tax free available.

A hidden gem with a soul!While everyone is lining up at the famous spot next door, do yourself a favor and step into this beautiful family-run shop. It’s run by a charming elderly couple who put their entire heart into every bowl of matcha.Instead of a quick takeaway, they invited us to sit at their table and performed a personal, traditional matcha ceremony just for us. The quality is exceptional, the price is fair (tourist tax free here!), and the atmosphere is incredibly warm. It was the highlight of our trip. Support this local treasure!❣️
The owner are really nice. Warm welcome for tourist. If you want to try matcha. After you buy it they will make a simple test for you.
