5 star rating staying at this extraordinary old traditional guest house! First, we were greeted by our hostess Megumi-san and her lovely family. We enjoyed a communal evening with other guests who were artists so it was a very interesting mix. Food was served on handmade wooden plates made by her husband Taiki, a very talented woodworker, and beautiful ceramic bowls which were made by one of the guests! The owners have done a remarkable job restoring the building making it both modern and comfortable while keeping the traditional feel. The surroundings are quiet and beautiful with many places to visit. We were also taken to a great soba restaurant where not only the food was excellent but the place was quite exquisite. There are so many places around to make this an excellent destination for relaxing and exploring. We highly recommend visiting the green tea plantations nearby and of course the fish market in Yaizu.A truly authentic Japanese experience!Chris and Monicafrom California
