For foreign tourists, this place is a Karaoke bar. I (a foreign tourist) was introduced to it by a local gentleman that I met at a local restaurant (who was also so kind as to pay for my visit). I had a lovely time there singing, with the lady owner accomodating my extremely broken Japanese as well as being extremely encouraging for everything I tried (and occasionally failed) to do. Honestly, she was more supportive in those 2 hours than my mother ever was. She also gave me a bottle of sake as a gift which honestly I felt bad for taking. If you know a little bit of Japanese and are free in the evenings, please drop by and show some support to the owner. Her kindness is unparalleled and definitely made my Kyoto trip an exceptional experience.
