We bought some beautiful pieces of art at this gallery! Not a traditional way to view art, as you look on an iPad and have them pull for you to look at but we found pieces we loved!
What a surprise gem. My husband is a genius at finding off the beaten track experiences, especially for art and design. This gallery is like nothing I've seen before. They have stacks of paintings like a library. You look through an online catalogue with work by 1000 Japanese artists, and they bring you the pieces you want to see in person. Then you can buy or rent to the paintings. The experience was personal and gorgeous, and we bought 3 pieces. The prices are reasonable (for exquisite art) and include shipping abroad. The founder/director is kind and knowledgeable. Kyoto Art Gallery is a highlight of our time in Kyoto, and we will definitely return. Highly recommend.
Pleasantly surprised by this small, endearing venue. Open to the public for its gallery space, and they also rent out & sell over 15,000 pieces of art. Loved the hospitality of the staff in attending to my inquiries about artwork. Some amazing work by Japanese artists. I would recommend this place for anyone serious about art curation and art in general.
What an incredible art experience. Getting to look through such an extensive catalogue with a fantastic staff, then viewing the art and being able to buy and ship it so easily was a joy! A must stop for art lovers.
