This is an excellent hotel. It is so good that I feel the urge to gate keep and not leave a review but that would not be fair. What would be fair to say is that price adjusted, this was one of our favorite stays in Japan this year. Excellent on all fronts. Clean. Excellent service. Great location. No real missteps.One issue to flag to management. The same young person checked us in at 3 pm as was there in the evening when we left for dinner at 7 pm as was there at 10 pm when we got back as was there for light refreshments at 9 am as checked us out at 10:30 am and also was there at 12:30 pm when we picked up our bags. When did she sleep? Hard work is one thing. This is too much.To be clear: She is excellent at her job. And she said nothing to us — so this is not on her. But we could not help but observing the same person was there always and it made us wonder as to how many hours does she work?
KIORI Hotel Takakura is a fantastic base for exploring Kyoto. The location is excellent, the rooms are modern, stylish, and spacious. There is also ample storage space for clothes and luggage, and the beds are supremely comfortable.The front desk staff were a real highlight; warm, welcoming, and a pleasure to deal with throughout our stay.Our only gripes were with housekeeping. During our stay, we put out the "please clean room" sign for several hours while we were out exploring the city, but the moment we returned and settled in to relax, housekeeping knocked to clean. Timing that could use a little work! The second day we left the sign out again and the room never got cleaned at all, so we eventually gave up. Small frustrations, but worth mentioning.One other minor annoyance: the bathroom exhaust fan ran constantly with no way to switch it off. It wasn't unbearably loud, but noticeable enough that we had to keep the bathroom door closed to muffle it.That said, none of this would stop us from returning — and we absolutely plan to. Great hotel, great location, great staff. Just sort out the housekeeping scheduling and that fan!
We had a wonderful stay here for two weeks! Very clean, spacious and cozy. Very suitable for couples or solo travellers. The location is close to Nishiki market and just steps away from konbini. We loved exploring little streets around the hotel with many cafes, local shops and museums. Complimentary coffee is available at the lounge area any time you want. Thank you so much to the lady who welcomed us back to the hotel every night (so sorry we didn’t manage to get your name), and for showing us such warm hospitality! Would love to return for our next visit!
Great experience at the Kiori hotel during our stay in Kyoto. The rooms are spacious and well equipped, the bathrooms are nice (although I'm not the biggest fan of not having a door separating the shower and and the bedroom - but the shower was amazing regardless), and the lounge on the ground floor is such a nice place to unwind and enjoy tea and pastries. Would definitely stay here again if I'm back in Kyoto!
Good service, location is not far from subway, 15 mins walk to all major shopping destinations etc.The room size is spacious, with no bathtub and limited amenities compared to traditional Japanese chains such as face mask, cleanser and pyjama. The exhaustion fan cannot be switched off without calling a staff in and use a ladder for maintaining reasons… and the lights has to be switched off one by one. There’s only ONE washing machine so I had to get up at 6am to use it… All other time it’s full.But other than that bring a small boutique hotel it’s easy access and has quick responses.
Hotel nuovo, moderno e accogliente.Posizione ottima: hotel vicinissimo alla stazione/ai mezzi pubblici e a pochi minuti dal centro del quartiere ovvero dalla via principaleCamere ampie, pulite, dotate di ogni comfort e con letto spazioso (rispetto agli standard giapponesi); presente kit di benvenuto, prodotti per capelli/corpo e spray profumato per i vestitiStaff disponibile, cordiale e gentile.Ogni mattina è disponibile vicino alla hall una mini colazione con succhi/acqua/caffè e piccole brioches!Unico “problema” è la presenza di una stanza con una sola lavatrice/asciugatrice… durante il mio soggiorno l’ho trovata occupata e ho dovuto attendere un po’ prima di utilizzarla
The hotel is well located a few minutes walk from Nishiki Market. The rooms are a good size, comfortable and spotlessly clean, as is the rest of the hotel. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. There are some nice touches that made our stay more pleasurable like a resident’s lounge with all-day complimentary tea and coffee, and Continental breakfast in the morning. If we were to return to Kyoto, we would definitely stay here again.
We come around 8PM, the staff greet us nicely, the check in process is smooth and fast. The room is clean, modern and simple, space is good i can open 2 big lugages. We stayed for new years eve and they have small event for countdown and gave sake and noodle. It's a boutique hotel, so it's giving different vibes like big hotel. They have laundry room, free coffee and tea 24 hours, and bread in the morning. I send my luggage from this hotel to my next hotel in Kanazawa a day before I check out, and my luggage arrived perfectly on time in Kanazawa (it's already arrived before I checked in). I enjoyed my stay here and a lot off great hidden gem resto near the hotel. Thank you..
Edit: they did take responsibility eventually, promising better training and procedures for this matters.The rooms are the biggest we saw in Japan. Most of the staff has very good english.The staff in this hotel sent my luggage to the wrong place, making me lose my flight. I showed them my reservation on booking.com but they still messed it up. The reciept they gave me was in japanese so I didn't realize they sent it to Namba instead of kansai airport.They took ZERO responsibility over the problem.

I had such a great stay here 🥹 From the moment I arrived, everything felt welcoming. The hotel smelled amazing and created such a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere.The staff on the day of my stay were all incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful. Everyone made me feel comfortable and well taken care of throughout my stay.Honestly, I have nothing to complain about — everything was excellent. If my Japan trip had been longer, I would’ve happily stayed here for all 15 days ❤️✨ I truly enjoyed my experience and would highly recommend this place to anyone. I’d definitely love to come back again someday!
