平安京跡 神泉苑 東端線の特徴
神泉苑の禁苑としての歴史が感じられる場所です。
隣接する二条城のお堀まで徒歩圏内でアクセス良好です。
美しく手入れされた生垣に囲まれた石碑が見ごたえあります。
神泉苑は，平安京造営の際の禁苑。延暦19(800)年，桓武天皇(737～806)の行幸記事が初見。当時は二条・三条大路間の南北4町，大宮・壬生大路間の東西2町を占めた。歴代天皇が行幸したが，貞観5(863)年御霊会が催されるなど祈雨の霊場として使われた。中世以後荒廃。平成2～5年にかけて実施された地下鉄東西線建設に伴う発掘調査により，平安京造営当時の神泉苑の東西幅が確認された。この石標は神泉苑域の東端を示すものである。なお神泉苑は現在，放生池の中島に美女龍王を祀り，寺院となっている。苑地部分は昭和10年に史蹟名勝天然紀念物保存法による史蹟に指定され，現在は「神泉苑」として国指定史跡。（京都市）碑 文[南] 平安京跡 神泉苑 東端線[東] 平成二年から同五年にかけて実施された地下鉄東西線建設に伴う発掘調査により、平安京造営当時の神泉苑の東西幅が確認されました。当該地はその東端線に当たります。Shinsen-en is a forbidden garden during the construction of Heiankyo. In the 19th year of Enryaku (800), the article about Emperor Kanmu (737-806) was first seen. At that time, it occupied 4 north-south towns between Nijo and Sanjooji, and 2 east and west towns between Omiya and Mibuoji. Successive emperors went there, but it was used as a sacred place for prayer rain, such as when a spiritual meeting was held in Jōgan 5 (863). Devastated after the Middle Ages. The east-west width of Shinsen-en Garden at the time of Heiankyo construction was confirmed by the excavation survey carried out from 1990 to 1993 with the construction of the Tozai subway line. This stone marker indicates the eastern end of the Shinsen-en area.Shinsen-en Garden is now a temple dedicated to the beautiful Dragon King on Nakajima in the free life pond. The garden area was designated as a historic site by the Historical Sites, Places of Interest Natural Memorial Preservation Law in 1945, and is now a nationally designated historic site as "Shinsen-en". 周辺のオススメ
神泉苑の北側の入り口から出て東側に歩きひとつ目の信号を二条城のお堀側にわたると綺麗に手入れされた生垣の中に「神泉苑東端線」という石碑があります。石碑の右側面に少し読みにくいです簡単な説明書きが書かれています。説明書きには「平成2年～５年にかけて実施された地下鉄東西線建設工事に伴う発掘調査により、平安京造営当時の神泉苑の東西の幅が確認された。この石碑は神泉苑域の東端をしめすものである。」との記載があります。神泉苑は、現在、放生池の中島に美女龍王を祀っており寺院となっている。苑地部分は昭和10年に史蹟名勝天然紀念物保存法による史蹟に指定されて、現在は「神泉苑」として国指定史跡になっています。2025年9月再訪。
