京都町家麦酒醸造所の特徴
京都町家麦酒醸造所の醸造所見学では、中文を話すスタッフが親切に案内してくれます。
They're open from 5pm-10pm. This place is a great local beer and sake bar with an excellent selection of Kyoto alcohol. Very classy, great customer service, great atmosphere. Risking sounding too gaijin, it has very Cowboy Bebop vibes with the jazz, brews, and class.
After visiting the brewery I would have given them 5 stars. The clerk was friendly and attentive, he let us taste water from the well and overall we had a good experience.I went there to buy beer for a friend who’s a brewer and enjoys tasting different beers from around the world. Since their machiya beer had been featured on a NHK program I decided to give it a try and grab some bottles for my friend.The beer was refrigerated but I thought that is only for customer’s convenience so you can enjoy a cold beer right away. With no word did the clerk mention that the beer is unpasteurised and must be refrigerated. There was no warning sign, no indication, nothing.I spent quite a few ¥ on beer for myself and my friend overseas only to find out later that all the beer had gone bad because I didn’t store it in the fridge.The store itself is nice, the staff is friendly and I like the idea of coming up with new ways to keep traditional businesses alive so I'd recommend this place if you like sake and beer. However, be sure to ask if any of the products must be refrigerated before buying, otherwise you might waste your money on a souvenir that's gone bad by the time you come home!I went to other breweries that also sell unpasteurised items and they put a fat yellow warning sign at the shelves so people know that those ones are unsuitable for sending overseas/souvenirs. Wish they would do the same!
町家はコロナでだめですが、お庭で試飲できました。
キンシ正宗の堀野記念館に醸造所が併設されていますが、そこでは飲めないとのことなので、記念館さんでいただきました。瓶ビールをお庭で飲みました。素敵なお庭があります。
