If you’re thinking of living in this apartment, be ready to pay exorbitant cleaning fees when you move out, especially if you have a pet. We only lived with our rescue cat for the first month but the inspector said that there was still a lingering smell so they charged us 30,000 yen for that, even though none of our friends or family who visited noticed a smell. They would not use the pet deposit we paid when moving in for this. They also charged us big amounts for small defects that add up to almost the rent for one month. Even our previous rental which was twice bigger in area in which we lived in three times as long did not charge us this much in cleaning fees.
