Hands down the best bar in town. You won’t find better tacos or pub feeds anywhere in Japan and they sure know how to pour a Sapporo Classic. An absolute must do for visitors and locals alike
Came for the snow, stayed for The Legend – 10/10From the moment you walk in, it feels like a proper local. Warm, welcoming, and full of character — the kind of place where you’re treated like a mate, not a customer.John, the owner, is an absolute legend and a genuinely great bloke who sets the tone for the whole place.Sam in the kitchen is an absolute wizard — unreal comfort food that makes you feel like you’re back in the UK. Roast night is an absolute must. And if you’ve got time you'll find Sam’s lovely wife in the Bonnie Blue Fish & Chips Van , which is hands-down worth the visit if you’re anywhere near Niseko.Taco night deserves its own shout-out thanks to Kenny from TACODAKE — unbelievable tacos and a bloody Weapon of a bloke.Behind the bar are the two legends Bekka and Mabbs — great banter, top pours, and if you’re lucky enough, you might even get treated to the Welsh alphabet sung loud and proud. And then there’s Adam, aka Jesus. He may not turn water into wine, but he’ll make you feel welcome every single time and can punch a beer like no other. A wonderful human and a massive part of what makes this place so special. If you’re lucky, you might even get the chance to tip one back from the prosthetic leg behind the bar — a true Legend rite of passage and a must do for Kutchan .I came to Japan for the snow and riding, but I’ll always remember The Legend as the place that made it feel like home. I’ll cherish this pub close to my heart and can’t wait to be back on the stools, sinking pints and chatting rubbish with the crew.10/10 establishment. Get on a stool at the LEG and enjoyThanks so much, legendsCheers 🍻
The food is so great here!! Highly recommended for night out at Kutchan. Staff are friendly too!
Excellent spot! Beers just taste better here. They have the magic touch! And the food is on another level. LGBTQ+ friendly spot! Safe environment for women (and anyone: CCTV in operation). Clean toilets, too. Can only love this legendary bar.
The Legend in Kutchan turned out to be the perfect spot to unwind after a long day of skiing. Sam and John's warm hospitality made me feel like I'd been a regular there even though it was my first visit. The fish and chips (¥2,000) really hit the spot, and I enjoyed a few rounds of beer in the welcoming atmosphere. For weary skiers looking for good pub fare and friendly faces in Kutchan, The Legend is worth seeking out.
Was quite cosy/busy when walking in bit late at 8:30pm in the heart of winter but greeted by laid back friendly vibes from staff and patrons. While waiting for the football to kick off decided to try fish and chips and was amazing! Best fish and chips I’ve had in Japan. Sam and John really nice guys too behind the bar. Totally Recommend.
Amazing homemade haggis fritters - well worth the trip to Kutchan for a taste of home away from home. Thoroughly enjoyed the fish and chips too. Definitely will be back
