I am incredibly happy with my purchase and truly grateful for this wonderful experience. The kimono jacket is absolutely beautiful — even more stunning than I imagined. The craftsmanship, colors, and details are simply amazing. You can really feel the care, dedication, and artistry that went into creating it. It is not just clothing, but a piece of history and art.Communication throughout the entire process was kind, patient, and very professional. Even when I had difficulties with payment, they were incredibly understanding and supportive. I felt truly cared for as a customer. It was a special honor for me to communicate directly with a real craftsperson from Tokyo. That alone made this experience very meaningful. The package arrived safely and quickly, and I was also delighted by the lovely extra accessory included — such a thoughtful and beautiful gesture. This jacket is something I will treasure for many years. I can wholeheartedly recommend this shop to anyone who appreciates authentic craftsmanship and truly special pieces.Thank you very much for your beautiful work and kindness.
Keiko is an incredible host who makes crafting beautiful kimono purses easy and fun. Her warmth and great conversation made the entire experience feel like visiting a friend—I highly recommend this workshop! My wife loved it so much she booked two sessions! Also the area is a quiet part of tokyo that avoids the hustle of the other tourist areas!
I had the best time making my kimono bag with her. She was welcoming, encouraging, and clearly passionate about her work. I left with a beautiful bag and a very special memory. She made tea and a snack and it was such an enjoyable experience! Her little bird was very friendly and spent a lot of the time standing on my shoulder or my head!**Keiko is very generous and gave us gifts after the workshop. We actually booked two sessions and I'm so happy we did that. My husband and I each took home two kimono bags plus the lovely gifts.
I had a wonderful time with Keiko making a bag with Kimono fabric. Keiko is very patient and kind and the bag is beautiful
Small shop very close to the train station! The owner (and her parakeet) are so polite and friendly! It is obvious from seeing her work and listening to her speak that she greatly respects the history of kimono and giving them new life as modern clothing and accessories. She speaks English very very well and welcomes tourists for workshops or special projects. Very much recommended!
Kouboua-kina is absolutely a wonderful shop that offers amazing sewing experiences. I signed up for the kimono purse class. Keiko-san is amazing instructor, who goes over the history of kimono and fabrics before the class. A kit is provided with all the materials you need to sew. The directions are written in english with helpful diagrams as well. Yet, I appreciate Keiko-san, who provided pointers and tips on hand sewing. Plus, I got to meet the cutest little bird too. At the end of the project, Keiko-san provided tea and snacks. Thank you so much for such amazing hospitality and kindness. Overall, Keiko-san has inspired me to come back to do another course. Then I plan to come back to the shop as customer. Her shop offer so many gorgeous designed pieces by Keiko-san. If you are looking for a memorable experience, please come visit Kouboua-kina.
Keiko-san was so kind! She taught me how to stitch the fabric to make a strong bag, and had delicious snacks for after the session. She offered service in English, and we had a fun chat while doing the workshop. Overall, I highly recommend her shop! She has so many beautiful fabrics to choose from, and is a fantastic teacher!
I really do love this shop! Keiko-San is so polite and hospitable. Plus her bird is so cute! Her shop is a regular store and has workshops. My friend and I took the hand bag making course and it was easy. I’ve been sewing almost my entire life and this was the fastest piece I ever finished 🤣. The bags are semi pre made with the handles already on them so all you do is choose the design, measure a little and sew and that’s it. Keiko-San is also there to help so don’t worry about not knowing how to sew because my friend had no experience sewing but she found it easy to finish. The kimonos are beautiful in her shop. She turns them into bags, dresses, pillows etc. She has apparently a lifetime of experience in fashion and design and has had her shop for around a decade. What made this experience so nice was her conversation and hospitality. We learned about different types of kimonos, the fabrics and how they are made. The class was really educational. She sources the kimonos through thrift shops and donations. She gives them a new life since many owners of kimonos are no longer here and no one claims or wants them. Instead of them being destroyed she repurposes them for others to enjoy. So the story behind the shop is a plus.Best of all, she served us traditional Japanese tea and snacks at the end after we made our bags and she let us take a souvenir from her shop for free. I highly recommended this place. It’s perfect for those that love Japanese history, fashion, Japan and those that just want a unique, authentic non-touristy experience. The shop is tidy, small and quaint. The work shop is in the middle of the shop. Her creations fit an array of budgets for those that just want to stop by for a unique gift without the work shop. I recommend this place.

An amazing experience for my daughter and myself. When my daughter dreamed of traveling to Japan she also said she wished she could learn to sew. This experience helped to fulfill those dreams. An enjoyable experience and so grateful for your patience and kindness extended to us as we were late and bit lost getting there. Thank you for the sweet treats, conversations and travel tips.
