If you are looking for a truly authentic Japanese dining experience with carefully selected seasonal ingredients in a nostalgic fishing village atmosphere, this is the place to be!While on a fishing trip in Ito, my friend and I were searching for a local dinner spot and this place caught our eye. When we entered and asked the master for a table, he seemed initially puzzled and asked if someone had recommended us. For a moment, I thought it might be an “Ichigensan Okotowari” (no first-time customers allowed) establishment.However, after we explained that we found him on Google Maps and were happy to have whatever he recommended, he warmly welcomed us in. As we settled in, I realized he is a true Shokunin (master craftsman). His slight hesitation wasn't due to unfriendliness, but because he prefers reservations to ensure he has time to properly prepare the finest seasonal ingredients.We had the entire restaurant to ourselves and enjoyed an incredible multi-course meal. There was a story behind every dish—from the specific producers he sources from to his meticulous cooking techniques. My friend, who is also a sushi chef, was deeply impressed by the master’s dedication to his masterpieces. I especially loved the Ochazuke and was amazed at how fresh, properly prepared wasabi can be simultaneously sweet and spicy.We truly found a diamond in the rough that night. If you plan to visit, here are a few essential tips:Book in advance: Please make a reservation at least one day prior so the chef can prepare the necessary ingredients for you.Language Barrier: The master explicitly stated that he typically declines non-Japanese speakers because he does not speak English. I recommend bringing someone who speaks Japanese; otherwise, he may politely turn you away. This isn't out of rudeness, but because his devotion to his craft means he refuses to provide anything less than a perfect, professional service to his guests.Order the Omakase: While there is a food menu, I strongly recommend the chef’s seasonal choice!Hope this helps, and enjoy!
