This serene Japanese spa located inside the best hot spring hotel in the Gora area proves it surpasses the norm of body massage. First time having a massage in Japan, the shiatsu technique of soft to deep tissue is totally different from the other Asian countries (ie, Chinese, Thai, or Filipino as well as USA) I have had experienced. The finger, thumb, and elbow pressures are contrasting depending on the area of the body; oddly, there were moments that I could not tell where my massage therapist is standing as the pressure of the left and right side of my back being massaged is so equal and consistent that it seems she was hovering above my back as she was not on the table too. A surprisingly pleasant symmetry delivered by my massage therapist. Also, the feet, especially the soles of the feet is also focused with threading and washing.I booked in advance straight in their website (it has English translation option) which did not require a credit card charge. I was able to get a couples massage on the same time slot which is offered limited times only on certain days. But on the day scheduled, only to find out that it is not exactly a couples massage inside the same room but separate rooms on the same time slot. Guess, there is only one or two massage therapist per day or night in this spa that limits the schedule.On a good note, the staff with their broken English is accommodating. I originally booked a combo package offered for 90 minutes with body, head and feet equally distributed; however, the body massage, using the original shiatsu is with the clothes on (the Japanese pajamas which the hotel provides). But I wanted a full body massage experience. Expressing this, a change was made to the oil body massage for 90 minutes. Slightly more expensive but worth the experience as I mentioned above.Additionally, to be a client in this spa, it seems that one has to be a guest in this onsen hotel as the calls to this spa is being handled by the hotel staff and your room number is always asked as well as the charges billed to your room.Overall, a very great Nippon massage escape from the busy walkathon world of Japan.A+++ Must try!
