日本人はセネガルへの旅行目的での入国については一部ビザが免除されておりますが、その他の各種ビザや、隣国ガンビア、さらにコモロ共和国のビザはこちらのセネガル大使館で取得する事ができます。受付のフランス語が堪能な職員の方については、いろんな意見があるかもしれませんが、私の場合は大変親切に対応して頂いたと思っており、とても感謝しています。アフリカを何度も旅した人なら、皆さん理解できると思いますが、基本的に、上手くいくものも上手く行かない。何でも一筋縄では行かないのがアフリカ流。アフリカ諸国の在日大使館での事務も同様のはずで、いろんな事情で物事が簡単には進まない。そんな状況下で、できる限り日本人が納得できる形に対応すべく努力をしてくれているのが良く分かりました。だから、たとえそのやり方や内容に、日本人基準で「満足」できない点があったとしても、私の場合は、せいぜい「アフリカに行く前の心の準備体操」くらいにしか考えないです。日本の役所のような、手取り足取りのサービスを期待するのは、いろんな意味で違うかな、と思います。繰り返しですが、私はこの事務担当の方の尽力に感謝しています。ありがとうございました。
The Senegalese embassy in Tokyo were so helpful and patient in assisting me with obtaining a visa to visit Senegal. I am travelling on an Australian passport and whilst can obtain a visa on arrival, wanted to avoid any issues with the airline. They were very prompt in their communication and explained everything that was required to be provided to process the visa. My advice to anyone applying is to provide proof of accommodation for your entire stay, as I failed to do this which created a short delay in the processing time. I posted all documents using DHL and the passport arrived in Tokyo in about 5 days (including the weekend). It took about 3 days for the visa to be issued (it likely would’ve been quicker if I had provided everything initially). I then arranged for DHL to collect the passport, with the assistance of the staff, and it took another 5 days to arrive back in Australia (again including the weekend). There is no cost for the visa. I would highly recommend communicating with the embassy ahead of time and am very grateful for their assistance throughout this process.
