The Global Komaba office that is responsible for services regarding international academic exchanges and international students affiliated with the Komaba campus is efficient and helpful in general. In my own experience, the only thing unprofessional happened when I was about to graduate and was ready to apply for the change of my status of residence. The office sent a mail that says they are willing to help processing the application, while indeed asking me to submit extra 'evidences', which are not required by the Immigration Bureau, to prove my application is decent. One of the staff even questioned my purpose of stay, which was extremely disrespectful and unprofessional. I immediately decided to terminate further communication with the office, and completed the application directly to the Immigration Bureau. The situation could result from the paternalism of the university, and suggested a confusion of university administration and the immigration services. The administrative has no such authority. It was really a shame.
