During our visit to Japan two months ago we stumbled upon this hidden gem in Kawaguchiko. While the workshop was not a part of our meticulously planned itinerary, it was definitely one of THE BEST experiences we had during our trip! The workshop takes you away from the overhyped and overcrowded tourist spots and gives you a glimpse into authentic Japanese culture and hospitality. A special shout out to Yuko, who runs the workshop, for making our stay in Kawaguchiko unforgettable!To kick off the workshop we were presented with a stunning selection of traditional textiles and guided through the process of sewing our own personalised coasters. Afterwards, we enjoyed a variety of popular Japanese snacks, deserts and tea (using our new coasters) with our hosts. Even if arts and crafts aren't usually your thing, I wholeheartedly recommend giving this workshop a try, not just for the chance to take home a unique souvenir, but for the genuinely lovely conversations that are sure to come with it!
