Amazing addition to our honeymoon! We cooked the most amazing gyoza and ramen. We learned so much and had the best time!
What a great experience to have a guide as knowledgeable and personable as Suzy! She made sure everyone felt included and tried everything they wanted. I was inspired to try all types of fish and distinctly Japanese small bites at a chic neighborhood restaurant and then two boisterous and friendly izakayas. I felt well-cared for, but also challenged to eat things outside my comfort zone. When I return to Tokyo, I'd definitely do another tour or cooking experience. I also learned a lot about cooking techniques which was an unexpected "souvenir."
I wish I could rate 6/5! What a lovely experience, with great people. Suzy is a professional. She will take you around a few restaurants and explain multiple dishes that are very local Japanese, from the simple to extravagant, and help you enjoy them as a Japanese person. She's so witty and gregarious as a person, too. They treated us so kindly. ❤️❤️❤️
Making ramen and gyoza with Mayuko was such a lovely and charming experience! In addition to the main menu she also taught us how to prepare matcha and make a green bean appetizer. She was so sweet and accommodating and lovely to talk to- I enjoyed every moment of learning to cook in her beautiful home. She had a lot of tips and tricks to teach us, and the result was completely delicious. She even helped us take pictures and sent us off with recipes and other recommendations for Japan. I took her class with my mother, and two other lovely guests were there as part of our class. She knew exactly how to split the work so that we all pitched in to create a wonderful meal. It felt so good to enjoy delicious food cooked alongside people we met from halfway across the world. I highly recommend taking a cooking lesson from Mayuko- this was one of our top experiences in Tokyo. You’ll walk out with a full belly and full heart. Mayuko-san, gochisōsama deshita 🫶
It was our first time in Tokyo, so a friend had recommended that we came here. This has to be one of the most enjoyable experiences that I’ve had. It was friendly, really accessible, and a great way to meet some new people and share a fantastic meal. Mayuko was a fantastic host! Not only was she extremely knowledgeable and skilled with cooking, but her genuine kindness and warmth were contagious. If you’re thinking about doing this, I would recommend not hesitating and just booking! Thank you so much.
Mayuko’s class was amazing!! The food was great and very easy to learn, but the real treat was talking to her for 3 hours. We also got to sit and talk about our travels and cultural differences with a Dutch couple. All in all, a 10/10 experience, so glad we did it.
Mami recently took us on an incredible food adventure in Tokyo, and I can’t thank her enough for introducing us to some truly unique local food experiences. We discovered bar snacks and delicious dishes we would have missed otherwise. She showed us roasted ginkgo nuts, negi yakitori, pork wrapped in ginger shoots, and interesting drinking snacks like fried chips with ‘shark cartilage pickle’, tuna head sashimi with sesame shallots and garlic dressing, dried stingray, and delicious fried burdock chips. Then we visited one of the most ridiculous and super fun local restaurants ever. It served incredibly fresh seafood and was jam-packed with locals having a good time. Thanks from the bottom of my heart for unlocking a whole new level of Tokyo I never knew existed.
