We really enjoyed the shamisen performance. The room is quite small, so we could see the musician’s movements and hear the instrument from very close by. After the performance, we had time to ask questions and learn a little about the shamisen. The performer was friendly, and taking a photo together at the end was a nice way to remember the experience.
Enjoyed an authentic experience in a hidden place
A wonderful and truly authentic Japanese cultural experience! The rakugo performer was fantastic, and his English was excellent—I laughed the whole time! It was wonderful to experience traditional Japanese culture so close up. I heard they also have Japanese dance and shamisen performances, so I’d love to come back for another session!
Amazing Japan Lounge is a beautiful and atmospheric cultural venue in Nihonbashi where you can experience traditional Japanese performing arts in a small and intimate setting.I especially loved the close-up performance format. Being so near the performers allowed me to appreciate every movement, facial expression, and the powerful sound of the shamisen in a way that feels very different from a large theater. After the performance, there was a friendly talk session where the artists shared the meaning behind Nihon Buyo, Shamisen, and Rakugo, and warmly answered guests' questions.This time, I even had the opportunity to try playing the shamisen myself! The performer invited every guest to come up one by one, and we even played from sheet music 🤣. It was such a fun and unforgettable experience, and I was genuinely happy to be part of it.The atmosphere was incredibly welcoming and comfortable, bringing together people from many different countries. It's a wonderful place for anyone who wants to connect more deeply with Japanese traditional culture and create a truly memorable experience in Tokyo.
今回は三味線の回に参加させていただきました。三味線のプロが英語でジョークを交えつつ伝統的な曲からゲームやアニメの音楽まで幅広く演奏してくださってとても楽しめました。演奏者の方との距離が近く体全体で三味線の迫力を感じることができ、こんなにパワフルな楽器だったのかと驚きました。実際に三味線を弾かせていただく時間もありとても良い経験になりました。外国人の方を連れて行ってあげると喜ばれると思います。
It was amazing to learn some amazing Kabuki dance moves from an artist herself. The dance was delicate, and full of symbolic meanings. It exposed you to the wonderful history behind rich Japanese culture. Most importantly, everything was explained in English allowing travelers to be at ease in understanding the stories. The lounge was cozy and intimate. The supporting staff were helpful and cheerful all the time.

It was also amusing and I’m thankful to all of the organisers for this precious time!Amazing Lounge is not a mere Japanese culture performance where you just watch - it’s a fully interactive and unique experience where you can communicate with the performers and even learn from them!Amazing Japan Lounge - lovely Japanese traditional style space with a gorgeous stage with golden leaf folding screen and beautiful stage back. The space can hold up to 8 guests, thus making this experience more intimate and close.If you want not only to watch Japanese performing arts but to be a participant and ask many questions- and get many more answers- this place is for you!The shamisen session showed the beauty and possibilities of this traditional 3-string instrument, and I could even try playing it myself! The performance was really full of interaction and engagement with the performer; the shamisen performer told many jokes and surprised us in many ways!If you want to amaze yourself or your friends this is your place!Geisha performance and Rakugo are available too!

An incredible up-close Tsugaru shamisen experience!!I joined the bilingual Tsugaru shamisen show on a Tuesday afternoon, and it was one of the memorable day of my weekdays!!The room only holds about 10 people, so you're watching the performance from just a few feet away — that alone was amazing.You can see every movement of the player's hands and really feel the sound in the room.The performer explained everything in English with a great sense of humor, which made it so easy to stay engaged and actually understand what I was listening to.They played traditional Japanese pieces as well as some songs everyone knows, and it was genuinely thrilling.At the end, we even got to hold and play the shamisen ourselves! I had no idea it was that heavy, and playing it is way harder than they make it look. It gave me so much more respect for the skill involved.I absolutely love the unique sound of this instrument — it's calming in a way I didn't expect.If you want to experience a traditional Japanese instrument up close, in a quiet setting that works great for families too, I highly recommend this. And apparently the space turns into a bar at night — I'll definitely be back!
