We had a lovely 3 night stay in the small guest house, it was a perfectly sized accommodation. Definitely take advantage of the home-cooked meal offering with Shohei!
We had an amazing stay here. The house is cute and cozy and super clean—just like the photos, but even better. We loved making the provided breakfast and eating it while gazing at the garden outside. Ascending the ladder-like stairs to the bedroom felt like entering your own private treehouse. The firewood-heated bath was a huge plus as well, so relaxing after a long day.Shohei and Mami were such kind, warm, friendly hosts, from first message to our departure. They had terrific recommendations and went out of their way to help us get to some local spots. It was lovely to have some nice conversations with them, and the meals they cooked for us were so delicious!Definitely do the tour with Naoya and the tea ceremony with his wife Rumi as well. We loved spending time with them and learned so much about the area.Make room in your itinerary for this stay, you won’t be disappointed!

Shohei & Mami were exceptional hosts, the Atelier Tonari was the highlight of our trip to Japan. We had rides to and from the train stations, we got picked up and dropped off to recommended sites, we were suggested all sorts of unique and fascinating experiences that led us to discover the beauty of Nose. The surrounding area is picturesque with its rolling hills, rice fields and winding roads. There are multiple cafes, restaurants, temples, hiking trails and more to explore. We borrowed bikes and wandered through the rural roads alongside farmlands, a much-needed rest from life in the city. We also had home-cooked meals, local sake, breakfast every morning and experienced a tea ceremony as well as a traditional Onsen bath. People in Nose were warm and welcoming, a special thank you to Shohei for making all this possible. We highly recommend staying here, it was an amazing experience for us.
We stayed for 3 weeks in Japan most of the time travelling back and forth between busy cities.So after some time we were in need for some quietness and nature. Atelier Tonari was the perfect choice!! The owners greeted us with so much hospitality and showed us lovely places (restaurants, Onsen, hiking trip) we really enjoyed. The accommodation is wonderful. We stayed in the tiny house and rested in the best way possible. The interior is unique & beautiful and the traditional Japanese bathtub was an amusement!The included breakfast was a healthy and fresh feast and the tea ceremony that we booked on top was a night we will never forget.Thank you for those memories. I was looking for a restorative solo sojourn away from the big cities and Atelier Tonari absolutely exceeded my expectations. Shohei and Mami are part of a dedicated group of locals working to revitalise their beautiful town. Slow down, put yourself in their hands for a few days and take advantage of all the charms this area has to offer.
