Had a fantastic time on Andy's neighbourhood cycling tour, it was great to have an experience outside of the bright lights in a more suburban setting. The roads were easy to navigate and i really enjoyed the paths through the parks. Passing the groups of young children playing was a bonus. He shared some really interesting insights into everyday life of living in Japan which i have found dont get touched on in other tours. Oh, and the food choices were great. Couldnt recommend enough! 5🌟
Andy showed us around his neighborhood on some classic bikes, we were recommended this tour and so glad we made the booking. We got to see some back streets we would never have found unless on this tour. Andy had great local knowledge and being a fellow Aussie we found it really easy to communicate. We enjoyed an authentic Japanese “truckie” lunch which was delicious and a couple of tasty snacks along the way. Throughly enjoyed this bike tour and would highly recommend it
My teenage boys and I had a brilliant, blue-sky winter's afternoon with Andy, exploring the neighbourhoods around Koenji and Nakano on his Tokyo West Side Cycling and Food Tour (private afternoon tour). It was a really different experience to all the other tourist activities we'd been doing - for me personally, riding around like a local was more fun, unique and memorable than checking off a lot of the over-Instagrammed sights. Andy generously shared insights from his life in Tokyo - from how local waste recycling works to discussions about schooling, what all the drinks are in the vending machines, and local restaurant recommendations. We loved the noodles at the end of the trip, and the experience made me feel more confident to explore shops, restaurants and bars after peppering Andy with lots of questions about local ways and customs. I highly recommend Andy's tours to anyone who enjoys riding bikes and is looking to get slightly off the tourist trail to discover a bit more about life in urban Tokyo.
marvellous few hours out biking with Andy ( guide) on a very mild and sunny Tokyo Monday afternoon. Four of us and he navigated local residential neighbourhoods and their associated communities, and also biked along the river path- peaceful amidst the busyness of Tokyo. Within the few hours traversed all matters re way of life: education, careers, real estate, domestic life, religion, social etiquette. Came away super informed, and all the better for it. Not to mention the stops for Japanese traditional snacks and beverages, well timed and memorable. A really fantastic thing to do out of the ordinary whilst in Tokyo. Easy to access @ koenji station meeting point.
DIG Tokyo Tours was a great find for a private cycling tour in Tokyo with my 8-member family!Andy was extremely accommodating and patient with my family, especially in light of the varying paces and competences of each member while weaving through Tokyo's narrow and busy streets.Although we messaged Andy months in advance, visa issues led us to only book a week before our tour. Andy was quite booked and busy, but he managed to fit us in on an afternoon—and it worked out well in the end, because of the length of time my family ended up taking. What was meant to be a 3.5–4 hour ride ended up 5 hours with us! Oops.We really appreciated that Andy remained kind throughout the ride, and he prioritized safety rather than rushing us through anything. As he liked to remind us, if we're not confident, just put our feet down and take our time; even walk if we need to.Another great thing about the tour is that it really took us into the local neighborhood of Tokyo—a different perspective to the usual tourist sites and attractions! Andy was also great at explaining various tidbits and trivia about life and living in Japan. The food he fed us, while not much, were great fillers for a casual ride through the city. None of my family had any complaints—but I do feel like it is important to note for both foodies and experienced cyclists: This is NOT a hardcore food or cycling trip! That is, there were a couple of snack stops and one bowl of udon, rather than a full-blown street food tasting session. Also, for the cycling, you don't go very far or fast, and the most challenging thing was probably weaving through the people and posts along the way. That said, do manage your expectations! And if you do, I guarantee it will be worth the tour!DIG Tokyo Tours' private 'Tokyo West-Side: Cycling & Food Tour' is highly recommended for relatively sizable groups with different cycling paces and abilities and those wanting to experience a more local side of Tokyo.P.S. Photo credit to my brother-in-law, the photo of the kind of streets we got to bike through and experience on the tour. This was a nice, quiet one—not the challenging, busy streets with all the pedestrians you have to weave through. Haha.
THANKFULLY we got a recommendation to do a bike tour with Andy through the streets of the west side of Tokyo.By far the whole families favourite thing that we have done so far. Loved how we stopped at certain spots and Andy explained sites and the local way of life to us. A ride to each stop where we were provided with a vending machine hot drink and some yummy local fried vegetable sticks at Gobo Karage @ Musashino Gardens Fishing Pond (つり堀武蔵野園). Lunch was the kids most favourite bowl of noodles at Kishimen Noodles @ Edomaru Standing Noodle Bar (江戸丸). We then rode and parked our bikes in the biggest bike garage ever! Where we were treated to a beautiful Japanese pancake like dessert at Oyaki (Obanyaki) @ Oyaki Reifutei (おやき処 れふ亭).We were blessed with chilly but a sunny winters day, the gloves came in very handy. Absolutely 10/10 and a must do if you are heading to Tokyo. Thanks Andy, it was great to meet you and have you share all your local knowledge with us. 👏🚴♂️
I have done around 30 bike tours in my life, but Andy's one is definitely one of the best. I loved that bike tour, a really off the beaten path tour. We saw the real life of some less known quarters of Tokio. We stopped at several places to get some delicious bites of the local cuisine. It was a very good and balanced mix of cycling, sightseeing, tastings and talking. Very safe cycling. No lunch was needed anymore. A very authentic and informative cycling tour. We could feel the vibes of Tokio in an exciting way.

So glad we spent 1/2 day on a bike tour led by Andy. We learned a lot about modern Japanese life and culture from an Australian who has lived in this part of Japan for many years. The tour wound through residential and commercial neighborhoods. We made stops at local, traditional businesses and enjoyed tasty foods. Even those in our group of 4 who had visited Japan before felt they learned a lot. The bikes are comfortable and the ride is flat. Riders definitely must be comfortable mixing with pedestrians and other cyclists. Very enjoyable!
