This was the best home I have ever stayed in, with the most wonderful host. Yuji was incredibly friendly and responded within minutes. He had stocked the house with food, snacks, drinks, ice, and sweets, and also left many helpful notes to make our stay even easier.The villa is even better than it looks in the photos, and you definitely won’t regret choosing it. It is fully equipped and offers only high-quality products for hair and body care. We especially appreciated that it even included perfume, a hair straightener, and many other thoughtful extras.The decoration looks like something out of a magazine, and all the furniture is of high aesthetic quality. I would recommend that if you are arriving without a car and carrying large luggage, you take a taxi, as the uphill can be challenging. However, most of Hakone is uphill, and there is a nearby bus stop with good connections, so the location should not discourage you—the view is truly magical.Thank you, and we hope to return soon!
I visited Hakone in Nov 2023 and stayed at Sakura Villa. I loved the entire experience and mostly the private onsen. Our host went out of his way to be accommodating. I would definitely consider Sakura Villa again :)
This place (available on Airbnb) is magical: a green oasis in the mountains with a warm, comfortable, homey feeling, plenty of light and outdoor space, and every accoutrement you could possibly ask for. The host was so kind: he helped us with our bags when we checked in, was available for questions throughout our stay, and even went above and beyond, leaving us beautiful and thoughtful gifts for us to enjoy as we celebrated our honeymoon. His care for guests really shone through.The house is a marvelous place to vacation. There are two bedrooms, one in traditional Japanese style with a tatami mat, and the other with soft, fluffy, comfortable beds. The upstairs feels like a treehouse, with spacious high ceilings, wide open windows with a beautiful view of the trees, plenty of toys/games for kids, a big TV with a very serious sound system (and good instructions on how to use it!) and very comfortable furniture for a lazy day at home. The kitchen is incredibly well-equipped - especially for coffee lovers (there are many different types of beans, grinders, and brewing methods available, all carefully labeled!) and gourmands (almost any spice/condiment is available). There are even snacks and a bit of breakfast food on offer.By far the highlight, though, is the onsen (the traditional japanese hot springs bath). It is spacious; well-ventilated; clean; perfectly equipped; and just a perfectly relaxing place to be (it even has a view). It is always piping hot, since it is fed by a natural hot springs that is always flowing (although it's easy enough to add cool water to cool it down if it's too hot at first). If you're staying in Hakone and you don't stay somewhere with an onsen, you are doing it wrong. This place will rejuvenate you after long days outside, help you wake up in the morning, give you a pick-me-up in the middle of the day - whatever. You'll want to spend all day in there....But you won't be able to, because Sakura Villa is so accessible to all the Hakone attractions that you'll have plenty to do. There are hikes just up the road (if you don't have a car - we didn't - we recommend taking the bus a couple stops up Route 1 to the trailhead to the hike down to Hiryu Falls; there's no sidewalk on Route 1, so walking up the road the half-mile or so to the trailhead is iffy). You can get by bus, departing from just down the block, to either Motohakone-Ko on Lake Ashi (recommend!) or Togendai Station for the Hakone Ropeway (also recommend - but you can take a boat to Togendai from Motohakone-Ko as well). And it's easy to bus to either Hakone-Yumoto or Odawara stations as well - just be careful to make sure you're getting on the bus going the correct direction.

There are no words to describe this place and the hospitality Yuji provided during our two-day stay. The experience in the private onsen is out of this world! You should definitely book this place, but just keep in mind that there is a quite big upwards alley road from the bus stop to the house which can be tough when you have lots or large luggage, other than that the place is hidden gem in this out of this world place!
