The Kogasaki Purification Plant was built to purify the water flowing from the Sakagawa River into the Edogawa River under a floodplain using a method called the aeration and gravel contact oxidation method, improving the water quality of the Edogawa River and reducing problems such as mold and chlorine odors at the water supply intake downstream of the plant. This purification plant has made the water very clean, eliminating the moldy smell of tap water in summer and making it possible to secure a quality water source.
