Toyonaka campus is a minute away from this place. If you need to go to Mino-o campus, there is a free shuttle bus from Toyonaka campus. Grocery stores are 15-20 minutes away by walk but there is a convenient store (seven-eleven) and a little bakery shop (Pane Volare) near this place.There are bed (including sheet, pillow, pillow case, and blanket), fridge, microwave, bookshelf, couch, kitchen table/chairs etc. in the room. There is no kitchenwares, so you do need to buy (or bring) them after you get here (the dollar store is the place to go!). There are two laundry rooms and you can use washer and dryer for free. There are two excellent support staff in the office. If you are looking for a place to live, this is it!!!

Toyonaka International house is a very good place to stay if you travel to Osaka for work. It is intended to be occupied only by University visitors and their families, so public there is very pleasant, if not great. It is located within a green Osaka University Toyonaka campus, close to Shibahara monorail station, and Ibaraki train station is within 15mins walk. Surrounding areas are well kept, with a few hidden gardens and lakes, all spotlessly clean. A free shuttle bus goes to another campus during the term times. There are shops and children's playgrounds not far from the campus. The building itself looks solid (in case of earthquakes), has two parts, and three wings. The wings separate students from senior researchers, and singles from families. The main building has a big lounge (on the ground floor), reception room, free washing machines (with dryers-you'll need them as it is very humid), a few extra rooms for different occasions. Free Japanese language classes (two levels) take place there too. The teacher is a lovely and kind Japanese lady! We were given a one bedroom flat on the fourth floor, which was great. It was smaller than many of Europeans get used to, but ok for Japan. It was smartly designed, with lots of storage spaces. Good kitchen with stove, microwave, fridge (no owen). We did not have the washing machine, which was a shame but other rooms had it. Small bedroom had a big double bed and a storage. Living room combined with the kitchen is spaceous, bright and nicely layed. There is an unfolding sofa there too. Big balcony is a big bonus. Bathroom is more like European style, with gas boiler heating the water (you have to pay for gas separately). Air conditioning and free wi-fi worked well. Wooden floors easy to clean. Beds we not super comfy, and pillows were hard, but we got used to it, so it is ok. You can rent an extra set of bedding if needed. If traveling in summer, you'll need to get a mosquito repellent (you can not take it with you on board though, do plan on buying one in local pharmacy or Amazon). There is a beautiful pond nearby, providing a ground for flourishing wildlife. There are turtles and carps and crayfishes in the lake, kingfisher and crows around and above the lake, and (very noisy) bullfrogs somewhere in between. Bullfrogs are very loud, and they are 'booling' all night from may till July. Then cicades kick in! So, if you are sensitive to noise, take earplugs with you:D! It's not a joke actually.. Reception is open 5 days per week, and served by very polite and helpful staff. They help to settle and explain local rules, like rubbish separation and bills payment. They have given us some free kitchen utensils, which was very handy and kind. Also, you can get some useful freebies on the ground floor from the ex- inhabitants of the House who thoughtfully live behind some kitchenware and alike. And be ready to go for a national Japanese dance during the festivals that local enthusiasts organise for the newcomers, it is fun!:) You can find information about other activities on the stand near the reception, give it a glance. Overall, it was a very happy stay for me and my family. Just don't expect 6 stars experience, but a comfortable stay is guaranteed.
