I went today to apply for a debit card at Shizuoka Bank Mikatagahara Branch. With my limited Japanese, I used Google Translate to communicate with the teller. The young lady at the counter was very accommodating, and I noticed an older staff member kindly guiding her through the process.I brought all the necessary documents with me—bank book, ATM card, ID, and my hanko—so the process went smoothly. The teller even helped by writing out parts that needed to be in Japanese. Everything was finished in about 10 minutes, which was much quicker than I expected.I’ve been banking with Shizuoka Bank since around 2008 or 2009, and this was the first time I applied for something without outside assistance. Thanks to their kindness (and Google Translate), it wasn’t difficult at all. Overall, I was very satisfied with the service.
