Inui Shikki is a must visit when you're in Kyoto! The owner is extremely kind, sweet and hand makes all of the lacquer ware pieces herself, which makes them extra special. She helped us choose what we wanted, and chatted with us while she wrapped each piece in a safe box and beautiful paper to travel home with. At the end of our purchase, she presented us each with chopsticks, free of charge, as a small gift and token of appreciation. I cannot say enough kind words about the owner. Visiting her shop was the highlight of my day, and I now have 2 beautiful lacquer ware pieces that I'll treasure forever!
Lovely little shop with artist owner ... great for small gifts and laquerware ... lovely art pieces also. Highly recommend.

I've been truly touched by the discovery of this shop and especially so with the encounter with the artisan. It's been a pleasure to appreciate such pieces of art, and a blessing to have the opportunity to own one myself.The owner is a wonderful person, genuinely pleased with the idea of sharing the art of lacquer, breaking the languages with great patience.I wish this comment to convince at least some people to have a try themself, to make this art and this artist a bit more known

Local family shop with lacquered pottery. The items are mostly handmade and cheaper than in the big malls. The lady was very informative and attentive. We bought several items and are very happy :) 100% recommended!
We bought a natsume (matcha teabox) lacquered with floral designs, a box and a hairpin. Lots of products handcrafted by Mrs. Inui with 45 years of experience in the lacquering and drawing industry. Fully recommended! 😀

Trop gentille et mignonne la dame..!!!! on déchiffre et devine ce qu’elle dit car son anglais est « complexe »..de jolies choses a voir et a acheter en bois laqué fait main.. on a passé 3/4h a se faire expliquer comment elle fait… des trucs pas trop chers et d’autres!!!!!…. mais du travail d’artiste.. elle rigole et s’excuse presque de donner le prixun bon momenton a acheté bien sur
