My family and I visited Tsurui Shrine during our Hokkaido 179 Challenge, where we make it a tradition to visit the main shrine in every municipality we explore. Upon arriving, we offered our prayers and made our wishes before continuing our journey around Tsurui Village.The shrine has a peaceful atmosphere that makes it a wonderful place to pause and appreciate the quiet surroundings. I especially liked its elegant white torii gate, which resembles a Japanese crane in flight, a beautiful tribute to Tsurui Village's famous red-crowned cranes. The shrine grounds are well maintained and provide a relaxing stop before visiting nearby attractions such as the Tsurui-Itō Tanchō Crane Sanctuary. If you're exploring Tsurui, I recommend including this shrine in your itinerary.
