If you're foreign, even if you speak Japanese, get ready to be treated like an ignorant tourist. I visited the dermatology department and the doctor as well as the nurses there were very indifferent, unhelpful and overall very unprofessional. They laughed in my face when I explained my problem and as a patient I was not taken seriously. There weren't even any minimal recommendations to me about what I could do for possible self-treatment. I'm quite intimate with the Japanese medical care system, and patient care and medicine is comparably better in the States.
