Kochi Prefectural University has a small campus, and the Eikokuji campus cafeteria feels even smaller at lunchtime. By the time I arrived, the room was already full of students with trays, quietly scanning the room for an empty seat. There weren't any. I noticed someone standing awkwardly, clearly unsure where to sit, their lunch slowly cooling. It was a familiar university scene, but a slightly harsher version of it.The menu itself was modest, perhaps too modest. Nothing was particularly bad, but nothing looked particularly appealing either. The kind of dishes you choose because you're hungry, not because they excite you. The food did its job: it filled stomachs and then politely stepped aside without leaving much of an impression.To be fair, this is a public university on a small scale, so expectations should probably be adjusted accordingly. Nevertheless, a cafeteria can be more than just a place to eat. With a little more space and imagination, it could become a place where students would want to linger rather than escape. As it stands, it feels functional, crowded and quietly forgettable. It's an average experience: neither disappointing nor memorable, like a weekday lunch you forget by dinnertime.
学生じゃなくても利用可能のようですが、時間外か？休日？開いてませんでした（涙）
学生相手とあって、とにかく安い。味も一昔前の安いだけの学食とくらべ、まあまあ。カロリーまで気を配ってくれて、ありがたい(^^ゞ
学食です。もちろん、他の学食と同じく在学生でなくても食事ができます。学食なので、当然美味しくお安くいただけることもあり、外部の方も結構見かけます。学食であることを忘れて大盛りを注文してしまったのは間違いでした(^◇^;)なんとか食べきりました。メニュー、日替わりメニューも豊富で量も多く少なめも選択できます。サラダバーは量り売り。こちらもたいへんリーズナブル。学生がうらやましいというか、ご近所さんがうらやましいというか。近くに行った時は是非！高知城からもかなり近いです。

周辺のオススメ
高知大学の学食。学生や教職員などの大学関係者じゃなくても利用できます。私も部外者ですけど、普通に利用できました。学食っていうと、地味な雰囲気で、質よりも量！って感じのところが多い中、こちらの食堂はオシャレ。レストランって言葉の方が合うかもしれません。メニューもよくある大学生協のお店よりも立派な感じがしました。季節限定メニューでボルシチなんてありましたよ。このボルシチ、深く煮こまれていて、お肉がとってもやわらかいし、コクがあるし学食のレベルを超越してますって。ご飯やお味噌汁はやっぱり生協かなってところはありますが、大学の学食の中では、かなりレベル高いです。
