白旗神社の特徴
白旗神社は、八犬伝に登場する伝説的な神社です。
神社近くには独特な漢字を持つ待崎の名が付いた建物があります。
外房線安房鴨川駅から北東側に位置し、アクセスも便利です。
There are many Shirahata Shrine in Kanto district. However, judging from what Bakin says in his Nansou Satomi Hakkenden (or in my English translation 'The Legend of the Eight Samurai Hounds' as mentioned in Wikipedia), this unassuming affair could be the one Satomi Yoshizane visited to pray for victory in the campaign against Yamashita Sadakane in Episode 4. I couldn't spot an area called Matsuzaki (待崎) but there are at least two buildings nearby with the word in their names, which uses a unique character (待) that you cannot find elsewhere in Japan, at least in my google search. It's also easy to spot Maehara(-ura) and Hama'ogi (前原, 浜荻, respectively) at each side of the shrine, just like they should be.
