水神宮の特徴
湖のほとりに位置する涼しげな神社です。
霞ヶ浦を望む美しい景色が広がっています。
背景にそびえる二つの峰が印象的です。
The name is "Suijingu." While it would seem that it should normally be called "Suijingu," this particular shrine is called "Suijingu," indicating a much higher level of prestige than a shrine. The only shrines in Japan that bear the name "jingu" are Ise Jingu, Kashima Jingu, and Katori Jingu (according to the Engishiki Shinmeicho, compiled in the Heian period). Excluding those added in later periods after the Meiji period, there are only three. At first glance, this may seem odd, but since water has been the source of life on Earth and of humankind since ancient times, the grand name "Suijingu" makes perfect sense without any historical context. It's truly amazing—this kind of immense respect and reverence, based on accurate insight into the world and grasping its truth, is truly cool.

霞ヶ浦の岸辺にある小さな神社です。
霞ヶ浦湖岸の堤防道の陸側下に赤い鳥居とお社が鎮座まします。お社の扁額は水神宮と水天宮の二つが並び、合祀されていらっしゃる様子です。境内には、阿見町名所百選NO.46「水神宮からみた霞ヶ浦」の碑があり、一部引用しましょう。「国道125号線大室バス停留所から湖岸へ約200メートルほど入った堤の上に水神宮の祠がある。堤に立ち湖面の広大さと対岸の新治郡出島村の集落が点在し、右の突端に歩崎観音の森が霞んで見える・・・。」

広がる霞ヶ浦の向うに二つの峰が裾野を広げている。ここから見える筑波山はとても美しい。冬の晴れた日は左裾野に日光の男体山も見える。

霞ヶ浦湖岸で釣りぎできます。色々な魚が釣れますが、最近はボラやアカエイなども釣れてるようです。
