Most definitely the easiest part of doing anything with a vehicle in Okinawa. The staff was very efficient and quick. I will being coming back next year.
They do not accept card, yen only! Come here yearly to pay my road tax instead of waiting days for my insurance company who charges an extra processing fee. The ladies are very kind and professional. Always smiling even though sometime us expats make it hard. For military folks with “Y” 300/500 plate number you’ll need to go into the second bldg to pay your road tax starting May of each year. Those with “A” plates can go to the city office starting in April. It’s a quick transaction if you have all of your documents. After paying the office you can then go to the JSRVO office on Foster to get your new sticker.
Exceptional service. Special thank you to the kind lady working window 2 for U.S. military members. She was very kind and patient even as I screwed up the entire process. She even went above and beyond to help during her lunch break. The base vehicle registration office on base made it out like I just showed up here with the deregistration certificate and I could transfer the title to a kanji plate for my Japanese spouse. That is absolutely not the case as I learned today, haha.

自動車の重量税通知は毎年4月1日に登録名義人である所有者の住所に届く事になってます。自動車税は毎年5月末日までに納める税金ですが、その通知が来ない場合にはここに一度電話してみると良いです。

お昼休みに尋ねてしまいましたが、丁寧に対応していただけました。
道路税務署は浦添のキンザーゲート4番地のすぐ近くにあります。スタッフはとても上手な英語を話し、私が私の道路税を払うのに約2分かかりました。ただし、私たちはソファーのステータスなので、キャンプの里親からステッカーを入手する必要があります。

Extremely simple process to pay your road tax here. Way faster than sitting in line at the insurance agency. staff is friendly and speaks good English. They only accept yen though, which is a huge bummer for being in 2025, so make sure to bring some with you.
