Nachiya Guest House felt like a cozy home away from home. It’s a traditional-style guesthouse with a welcoming atmosphere. The host was incredibly kind and helpful, sharing local tips and making sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. The rooms were clean and well-kept, and we enjoyed the authentic Japanese vibe. Staying here gave us a sense of local hospitality that made our time in Kyoto even more special.
Stayed 2 nights with a family of 4. The house itself is amazing and well worth the price. The host is great and helped us with local food recommendations and local sights.10 out of 10! Would stay again without hesitation.
Nachiya is the most beautiful, stylish and comfortable home you can find (away from home). The house is spacious and clean and full of traditional Japanese charm. The area is quiet yet full of delicious restaurants and convenient supermarkets and stores if you want to use the lovely kitchen and dining room of Nachiya. It might appear far from city centre, but it is very east to take buses into town. And the local temples are a hidden gem, so much quieter then the touristy ones in town. Most importantly, the host Mamoru-san is kind and thoughtful and answered all our questions. He came to see us for check in and check out and made sure our stay was without problems. We could not have asked for a better stay. We will stay here again next time we are in Kyoto for sure!

Wonderful four nights at Nachiya. Mamoru-san is a kind and helpful host who really cares for his guests. He answered our questions, provided info and recommendations and forwarded our luggage for us upon our departure. It was great to have so much space after small hotel rooms in other locations. Lovely location - walking distance to Kinkaku-ji and just around the corner from Kazariya (which you simply must visit for grilled mochi with white miso sauce) and really good access to buses and metro. Full kitchen, comfy beds, lots of amenities, beautiful furnishings. Highly recommended.

Traditionally, perfection is something to be avoided in Japan, but this place gets dangerously close. Every corner, every detail is considered with utmost care. It serves as a perfect example of the Japanese aesthetic, while being comfortable and convenient at the same time. The futons in the traditional Japanese bedroom provide more support than those of most ryokans and the Western bedroom can accommodate even the most sensitive backs. The place is located in a peaceful neighbourhood close to major attractions like the kinkaku-ji. It is farther away from higashiyama but taxis are reasonably priced, or you can take the bus closeby. Additionally, Mamoru-san was an extremely considerate host. He responded quickly to my messages, and took ample time to guide us around the house. If you’re reading this review, don’t hesitate and book this house. There’s nothing else like it.

교토의 번잡한 중심에서 벗어나 조용하고 여유로운 시간을 보낼 수 있었던 정말 아름다운 숙소였습니다. 1층이라 부모님과 머물기에 편했고, 화장실이 두 개라 생활도 매우 편리했습니다. 숙소 주변에는 오래된 두부가게, 유명한 도시락 본점, 아침식사 전문 식당, 그리고 1000년·400년 전통의 아부리 모찌 가게 등 걸어서 갈 수 있는 맛집이 많았어요. 무엇보다 다이토쿠지와 이마미야신사를 비롯해 산책하기 좋은 예쁜 길이 많아서 너무 좋았습니다.정원과 집의 모든 디테일이 섬세하게 아름다웠고, 돌멩이 하나까지도 예쁘게 놓여 있을 만큼 호스트의 미적 감각이 정말 뛰어났습니다. 교토의 전통과 일상을 느끼며 특별한 추억을 만든 완벽한 숙소였습니다. 강추.
