Moe and Chikako were very accommodating and showed us the history of Japanese food as well as Kanazawa. The food we made was amazing and they were really knowledgeable about everything. We made amazing traditional Kanazawa dishes we had never heard of before. Moe was personable, knowledgeable, and truly wonderful to spend the evening with. We did a number of “experiences” while in Japan and they were all fun but this was the one that felt the most genuine and for me was by far my favourite thing we did. Moe and Chikako are simply wonderful. They have both spent time in English speaking counties so their English is fantastic meaning there was no language barrier, ensuring we learnt so much from the evening. The food they helped us create was delicious and we’ve already ordered a Tamago pan to try and recreate them at home.

I visited their studio with a friend, and it was a truly memorable and fun experience for our last evening in Kanazawa.We learned some interesting things about Kanazawa, and a lot about the uses of koji in Japanese cuisine. We had gone to a sake brewery for a tour the day before and learned of koji then, so it was great to follow the through-line and see how large a role it plays in Japanese food.Their dashimaki tamago recipe is the best! Both our hostesses were really gracious and fun. With their guidance, we were able to make some beautiful and delicious food. They also made adjustments to accommodate dietary restrictions, which we appreciated. Moe is really creative, she has a number of wonderful food and brewing projects that we had the chance to sample. I really enjoyed having the chance to chat with her and Chikako over sake and good food.It was a great evening, and I'd recommend it to anyone with an interest in Japanese food and ingredients.I look forward to trying the recipes at home. When I have the chance to return to Japan I'd love to visit them again!

By the time we'd got to Kanazawa we had a good idea of what we liked, and what we wanted to find out about.I mentioned this to Moe and Chikako and they totally rose to the challenge. From the outset they were so welcoming and went out of their way to cook dishes with us that, not only were we interested in, but were essentially Japanese and very delicious.Don't go to an overly formatted in/out sausage machine class. You'll get the real deal from these 2 wonderful women!

They are masters of their craft, a wealth of knowledge on food, history, and the city, and excellent hosts and teachers. This was one of my favorite moments of the trip - even the people in our group who don’t love to cook enjoyed every minute (they may have got into it the most even!). It’s such a lovely experience, and nice to have a home cooked meal amidst traveling and eating out all the time. So glad we found them! Thank you Moe and Chikako!
