This was one of my most authentic accommodations I booked throughout my tea trip in Taiwan and and Japan. The traditional japanese house is very comfortable. I got really nice tasting food! It is quite and you are right next to the tea fields. There is a cute friendly cat you can pet if you like. But most of all: The hosts are super friendly. They gave their very best to accommodate me in the best way possible. Sakyo-San tought me how to brew deep steamed green tea with ice and with hot water. It is really good tea and I am glad I could drink and buy tea directly from the farmer. I was so lucky that he even showed me around his tea factory. I can highly recommend this place to everyone! Thank you so much for taking your time and letting me experience Shizuoka in such a nice way.By the way: Make sure to visit the tea musuem. It was surprisingly great!
It was a most wonderful stay in tea farm. My older sister and me came by car without any expectation because I just want to experience Japan out of tourist place. Turns out this place was the best for us.Hosted by Yutaka & Noriko. Cooked for us such a very delicious breakfast and dinner. Okasan was very thoughtful to prepare us meal based in our preferred diet (because we are Muslim). I fall in love Shimada because of them. Suggesting and even wrote us itinerary where we should visit.Surprisingly I just know Shimada got such a great tea experience. We bought so many tea from them 😍😍😍 words unable to describe how great the experience with them.I pray for them to stay healthy. Definitely I wanna come again with my older brother and all of our nephews and nieces.
A beautiful traditional Japanese home. The hosts were so welcoming and keen to ensure we had a fantastic experience. We tried many of their home-grown teas. We also really enjoyed the tour of the area up to the top of the large nearby hill with views of Mt Fuji and the many tea fields. The home-cooked dinner was a highlight, with oden, miso soup, and other delicious dishes. Despite the freezing conditions outside last night, the rooms were warm and beds were warm. Thank you okāsan and otōsan for giving us such a special experience of Japanese life on a tea farm.
Absolutely incredible little bed and breakfast place. For a shockingly low price you get* to stay in a lovely traditional Japanese house with more space for your use than just about any hotel* free all-you-can-drink mind-blowingly good tea (which cannot possibly be any more locally grown* a private tour around their tea farm and workshop* quality time with a very friendly (and talkative) old lady cat* excellent home-cooked meals (seriously, buy the meal option, it's so good)* wonderfully hospitable service by a very friendly familyI cannot possibly recommend this place more; I'd give it ten stars out of five if I could. If you don't speak Japanese well, you may have to rely on Google Translate to communicate well with the owners. If you do speak it, they're great to talk to and very friendly. If you'd like to get off the tourist track and spend time with actual Japanese people, this is a fantastic way to do it.Anyway, yeah, stay here. Even if you're not otherwise planning on being anywhere near Shizuoka this place is worth the trip.
Had a wonderful time hosted by Yuichiro and the Sakyo family at their tea plantation on 16th June when we stayed a night there. The hosts made us feel right at home with their hospitality, delicious home-cooked meals and of course the variety of green tea that theh cultivated on their 300year old tea plantation. Will definitely stay with the Sakyos at Sakyoen again when my family next travel through the area!
This is a quaint little inn that will surprise you in the best ways possible. I stayed over with my spouse and daughter for one night, and we had the most wonderful and relaxing stay over the course of our two-week holiday. The hosts were extremely hospitable, ensuring that we were in every way comfortable and well fed. All our needs were taken care of very meticulously. The family is also really passionate about what they do. They showed us the tea plantation and their collection of tea.Bonus: they have a cute cat which my daughter keeps talking about after leaving.
Fantastic tea farm experience! We stayed here and had a tour of the tea farm with Yuichiro - it was great to see how the tea is processed and to drink some tea together and see how the taste differs with different brewing methods. We learned a lot! The family was so kind and patient with our Google translate Japanese, and dinner and breakfast were excellent! Thoroughly recommend this place if you want to experience a beautiful part of rural Japan. You can reach it easily on the lovely Oigawa railway. Thank you for sharing your home with us for the night!
在這裡有很特別的體驗,包含茶園參觀介紹、品茶、他們可愛的家庭小孩和貓咪,老闆很親切隨和。
98/100We had a wonderful afternoon at this family owned tea plantation!

Visited 令和七年六月An idyllic tea house accessible from Shizuoka run by a sweet old couple and their son. Opted to try a little something different on this trip to Japan and it was such a nice change!Sakyo ojisan and his wife were very patient with my friend and me, despite my fledgling and rusty Japanese, we got by with the help of mobile translators. Got to hear about the tea farming process, difficulties with the tea industry (e.g. urban rural migration) and was blown away when I found out that Sakyo Tea Farm is a 13th generation Edo-era establishment!!!??The tea was exquisite, especially as Sakyo tea farm spécialisés in cold brew tea - they occupy a premium niche in the market, producing freshly harvested Shincha (new tea) that can be cold-brewed in just 2 minutes!! It was pretty much all you can drink during our stay there and we got to also try their hojicha and black tea offerings - so rich and intense! My only regret was that we allocated one night here and left the next morning, but there was a storm ongoing from the moment we arrived till the morning! Would have loved to be able to properly tour the tea farm in the sun and have more time here to do activities such as tea rolling.I will most certainly be back and I wish the Sakyo family all the very best! I will treasure the memories and of course the limited supplies of fresh tea I bought!ホーさん。
