熊本城の南、中心市街地の一角に花畑公園がある。かつてここには、応和元年（961）、国司として当地に赴任した紀師信（きのもろのぶ）が住吉大神を勧請した神社があった。宮城の４隅に木を植え、四木宮（よつぎぐう）と称したという。その木の一つとも考えられる。
